I was out on the bike today and after I stopped the left side of the bike (fairing and engine cover) was covered in light coloured liquid. First off I though that someone had kicked a bottle in the bikes direction and the contents spilled over the bike. When I got home I took off the fairing and the residue was over the front of the engine and filter.
So I've obviously got a leek on my radiator somewhere. Whats the best way of patching it up if I can find where the leek is coming from ?
Does Radweld (?) work the same on bikes as it does on cars ?

Cheers.

Until you find the actual leak you have no idea if it's the rad or just a loose hose clamp etc.... Be a bit stupid buting a new rad if all it needs is a half turn on a hose clamp..

Wash ALL the residue off & then fire the bike up so you can see where the leak is.

I'm pretty sure its not a hose but I'll check again. There seems to be a small bit of green gunk at the very bottom corner, whether that is where it is coming from I don't know.

Open the filler cap when it's hot. If it hisses and sprays boiling liquid over you the system is holding pressure and you have no leak. If it doesn't hiss you've got a leak.

So, burnt hand = good radiator. Thumbs Up

From personal experience Holts Radweld isn't as good as the Barrs stuff. The one I used to use was called(by the trade) Barrs dog shit as it was a block you crumbled into the header tank, it has never let me down unlike radweld. But i am not sure you can still get it. Confused

Theres always egg white...........showing my age now! Shocked

I've got a coolant system compression tester thingy, I'm not sure if it will fit on the rad on a bike though. Thinking I'll dig it out later and have a check.

I put some of the Radweld stuff in and it seems to be holding ok. There was a small hole up near the horn and a wee leak down to the right. I've done 150 miles since it went in, so its fingers crossed.
