Well had an appointment with the doctor at 10.10am today in hastings which is about an hour as we managed to go though every village in the way Rolling Eyes (the other route much better) and got there and wait till 10.40!!! Evil or Very Mad

The 5 week old cast i had, very big and not fun to live with, lots of BCFers signed it
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/DSC00048.jpg

Cast again, more BCF names
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/DSC00049.jpg

we saw the consultant and tell me to get cast off and have a x-ray on my pelvis and arm. so off we went and had the cast off at long last and revealed two HUGH scars, im sure a doctor or nurse told me there wasnt going to be any scars but they were clearly lying and was a bit shocked what i saw, but chicks dig scars Cool so not all bad!!

they had 18 staples in 1 and 14 in the other. When i saw them i did what any normal person does and got the camera phone out and started taking pics!! Mr. Green

Scar on inside my arm (14 staples)
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/DSC00052.jpg

Scar outside my arm (18 staples)
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/DSC00054.jpg

The doctor that took it off was the guy that put in on and was cool and we were talking about what he should trade his Z1000 in for. i said it had to be GSXR1000K6 Laughing

Old cast
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/DSC00057.jpg

Then he took all 32 staples out Shocked suprisingly it didnt really hurt all that much which was good as had enough to take out!!

Taking them out
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/DSC00059.jpg

no staples
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/DSC00060.jpg

Then i spoke to the doctor some more and basically said that my x-rays showed i need the pelvis stucture on for ANOTHER 5 weeks (10 weeks total) which sucks as thought it would be less than that and so did he Crying or Very sad he put new cast on for when im using crutches as arm isnt strong enough to support my weight yet, got kawasaki green Cool

new cast, much more mobile now and can type with both hands!!
https://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d20/andy13_uk/DSC00062.jpg

well thought id share it with you all as bored and think the scars are quite impressive!! Razz tell me what you think!

That scar is cool
Like a hip Frankenstein thing
Well, I mean, I know it isn't sensible to like someone getting hurt
But it adds character

Impressive indeed
Very Happy

Like the new cast colour Wink

Thumbs Up Cool scars.

If any one asks you got attacked by a ninja but you managed to block his blow and his sword went through both sides Wink

You then killed him with the 5 point exploding heart technique.

Ouch! They're more impressive than the ones in your pelvis will be!

I've been quite surprised how much mine have faded - although if you look carefully I have a big chinese smiley face above my meat and two veg!

To be honest, I suspect he already knew that he wouldn't be taking it off today, but let you think that for motivational purposes.

The initial stages of recovery are the most important, and you being in a positive frame of mind is crucial. Now that you are home and settled, it doesn't matter so much when you discover that you are going to have the frame in for another coupla months.

In comparison, mine was in for 3 months, and that seemed to be the norm for everyone else in my ward.

yea i kind of knew i wouldnt be 5 weeks only but then again i was hoping for 8 weeks then off not 10 weeks. just to think its the same time again Shocked which is a bit scary but guess thats just how it is.

he also said he would take it out without putting me to sleep or anethetic which sounded not good at all!!

You get used to it, as I'm sure you've noticed. By the time I had mine out, I'd forgotten how I used to be!

It isn't, trust me!

Only being knocked out would stop the pain anyway - they do make that available in theory, but in practise it's another 3 days in hospital while they make sure you've recovered from the GA!

Getting the frame out frakkin' hurts, the initial tension coming off nearly made me scream, and then they grind the pins out of your bones with pliers!

It's pretty damn horrific, but it's all over in 10 minutes, and you walk out grinning!

nice looking scars there! glad that they put a smaller cast on so you at least have some mobility.
sucks about the frame still being on but better it being there to make sure you heal up nice and properly!

Just so you know, scars are sexy. Really sexy.

My man doesn't have any scars, perhaps I should give him one.

On a little 'scars are uncool' note...
If you break a vitimin E capsule and rub it in every day it will reduce some of the scarring!

BTW... I happen to like scars... Wink
