Hi, I'm 16 and ride an Aprilia RS50 (as I have said many times before) Razz and just wanted to know what the fastest standard 50cc bike is because every single time I see people (mostly 16 year olds) talking about there 50cc bike they say they have the fastest and it is getting very annoying listening to them talk about how they leave all other 50cc bikes for dead when another guy just told me he leaves all other 50cc bikes for dead ( I am guessing it would be between the manual 50cc bikes) Confused

Nah, Kreidler smashed that record. They did 140mph over a flying mile at Bonneville in 1965. Cool

I feel very sorry for your freinds having to brag about how fast there 50cc is, i like taking the piss out of 50's passes my time.

But really they are sad and would get left by any car, even a push bike.

Thats harsh man, at 16 years of ages i`d of killed for an aprilia RS50. Regardless of how fast or slow it is, at 16 there is no choice to own anything with alot more power, so why not own the best you can? And its geared too, so its a motorbike.

Good luck to ya mate, i don't know which is fastest, and to be honest its not important really, just keep riding and enjoying it.

To be honest mate, your rs50 will kill a standard derestricted auto 50cc. Everyone likes to think their ped is fast, but yours is up there with some of the fastest 50's - don't worry.

for some true "My ped goes 70" bashing, visit Preloved Forums ...

Here's a sampler:

Someone on that forum wrote:
yeh man, listen i have a piaggio nrg mc3 liquid cooled. I have derestricted once and have got a Zx sports exhaust on it and i have hit 70mph on the flat. can go even faster. get a sports exahust trust. Get a zx they are the best.

Well i also have an RS50 2003, and once managed to get 60MPH out of it but thats pushing it to the extreme, but in my opinion thats fast for a 50cc. Also i dont think it is fair at all that people laugh at 50cc bikes, thats all we can have anyway and i think it is a very good way to learn the gears and how it feels to ride a real bike for when you can actually ride one. I just think that these "chavs" mainly who ride about on there little scooters with there "loud" exhausts because they have taken the baffles out and their neons on really paint a bad picture for all 50CC riders.

Yea that is a but harsh, most of us went though the 50cc stage and in the back of your mind you know there slow as sin and very slow acceration but that not what it was about. i loved every minute of owning a moped and made my RS125 feel so fast compared to it.

Yea there are some mainly chavs that just talk rubbish about their top speeds but thats just chavs Rolling Eyes

I've started to see a worrying trend with Ped boi's, it involves removing there specifically designed 2 stroke exhaust pipe and replacing it with a full on sports bike end can Laughing There's a guy down my street who's done it with his. And i saw a vespa with one on it the other day.

For a start it look crap, sounds like and asthmatic wasp in a tin can and has probably halved his bikes power. I will have to get some pics up when i see it again. It really does take the piss Laughing

Are you sure its not a 4 stroke scooter? Also alot of vespas are 4 stroke these days - they do have big end cans!

for example take this:

https://www.divuk83.net/images/bike/zorstec1.jpg

You could say its a ped with a bike end can, but its a 4 stroke!

However if what you say is true and there are 2 strokes out there with big bike end cans - dont worry, bike darwinism will soon come into play and blow their bikes up Laughing

The one on my street was defiantly a 2 you could tell it was with noise and smell... I just laughed. The Vespa i saw had a full Micron end can on it and just looked silly.
