Red top alert:

A new type of speed camera that can swivel and catch vehivles speeding in both lanes it to be tested on the AXX (forgot the article) , tsk looks like the single number plate on the back is going to be just as vulnerable as cars with two , that said I don't go quickly in built up urban areas.

Surely it would be easier just to have 2 cameras in one box.

Bad news for the average motorist mind. Thumbs Down

A tyre and some gas will do the job:

"A speed camera on the Cambridgeshire and Suffolk border is the latest to be destroyed in an arson attack.
Police said vandals targeted a camera on the A1101 between Littleport and Mildenhall near the tiny village of Prickwillow.

A tyre filled with petrol was set on fire around the device, which caused damage estimated at £25,000.

Several cameras in the east of England have been hit by arsonists and airgun pellets over the last few months.

A fixed speed camera site costs about £40,000 to install."

Which means we foot the bill for the replacements and wonder why more of them keep appearing.

Aren't the scamera partnerships meant to replace the cameras?

I had heard (i think on here?) that flash spray does techinically work as they cannot see the numberplate on the normal image.

But that all that was needed was a negative image and it shows up clear as day, since the negative is often clearer its used alot.

Killa's got a point, 5 motorcyclists with black paint for the lens an a speed camera map could get alot done over a weekend.

Just get some enduro rat bikes, no plates, and go round for the day torching the cameras.

If it was followed suit by others, we could do some serious damage.

might have been :

#1 a fake

#2 not have film left init but moot due to switch over to digital pictures which is a semi good thing as

#2a digital cameras are vulnerable to EMP
#2b digital cameras can't be enlarged as much as any old fashioned film cameras

But hey if a 100yr forensic technology (finger prints on last nights panorama) can be disputed in court as unrelible these days theres room to move on these.

the problem is we live in the Uk where people just moan about it rather than take any action , in France they take action and the government listens,

also a deterent to this is the fact that people who are caught vandalising cameras get very long sentences, which really should be covered under the criminal damage laws but isn't as they make sooo much moola for them.

A better method is multiple HERF generators pointed at them a few teams per area , most people dunno what they are or what they look like and the cameras would look undamaged.
