not sure if this should go in the workshop section..
...... put my new tank pad on my gpz?
I know to clean the tank and make it dry/free from grease, but I always get lumps and bumps even when slowly peeling the backing off at an angle

anyone got a how to guide for numpties?

tips...?
not sure if this should go in the workshop section..I'm sure a mod will move it if it should

I just used petrol to clean the gunk off, let it dry.

Peeled backing off of tankpad at the bottom (About 1 inch of adhesive exposed.

Position and stick

Slowly peel backing paper up whilst smoothing newly exposed sections down.

Apparently you can use washing up liquid (on the tank before you put the pad on) to give you some maneuverability once you've stuck the pad on.

Hun,

All you gota do is get a rag out, rub it over the tank, rip back the paper and slap it on.

Simple as that Thumbs Up

Well as long as you wipe it off and let it dry I don't see the problem.

Your quite touchy at times aint ya? Wink

Was just saying, as every time i get petrol on my tank, it ends up fading the paintwork and taking the shiney finish off it.

Petrol is fine to use, as is a little diesel however I use white spirit usually.

I've applied them before but because this one is clear it will show all bubbles really badly.

it's going to look alot better than the black bale patching tape thats on there at the moment hehe

Bit of soapy water solution in a spray bottle.

Wet the tank and apply the tank pad, then simply move it so its in the right place and squeegee the air bubbles out.

don't use petrol and don't use washing up liquid, it you want to stick it on then move it around for the positioning then spray water on it first but only a tiny amount, this is what you do for decals.
to get the gunk off use a cleaner and just scrub a dub dub for abit. if its really hard to get off, heat it with a hair dryer.

As above, use a bit of mild soapy water, but also place a non permanent mark at the bottom and top centre of both the tank and pad to aid in lining it up. Also remove the seat and place the tank pad just below the seat line for additional protection like this:

Mcgee's right, just in this country you will have to use artificial heat. Gently warm the marked areas up and the glue should soften enough for you to smooth the marks out.

yes but is yours clear?
if not bog off because its not simple, I am, it's not.
Have tried using hair drier to get the marks to go away, they large air bubbles they are where the glue has gone white.
