Rear suspension adjustment for pillion

Hi all

I want to find out if it is vital that I change my rear suspension for pillion.? If so, should I follow some guide or crank it up fully? And finally, when pillion is not there, would it be a must to bring it back down or can I ride with it at the pillion setting? The thing is I sometimes have a pillion and some times don't - so want to know if it is better and safer to always keep at pillion setting rather than at low setting.

the suspension on the Thuderace is firm enough I make no change to the suspension when I'm 2-up. The FJR has an adjustment lever from soft to firm, and I've only switched to firm when I'm 2-up with luggage.

after reading THIS post im going to in future!!! Only takes a min with the c-spanner in the toolkit underseat and probably improves handling
