PostPosted: 14:24 - 06 May 2006    Post subject: [FOR SALE] Mission M70 speaker system with subwoofer Reply with quote

Due to a terrible cash shortage, I'm selling my beloved Mission speaker system. It consists of:

5* Mission M70 speakers
1* Mission subwoofer
25m premium cable
4* speaker stands, 2 front 2 rear

All in near perfect condition. The speakers have no damage and function perfectly, as does the sub. The stands are in very good condition, save a couple of scratches, mostly where the speakers themselves sit.

This system would have cost around £800 when it was released about 6 years ago. And if you know anything about the Hifi industry, you'll know that 6 years means virtually nothing, as far as sound quality goes. Wink

I'm looking for £100 plus postage. Due to the size and weight of all this, it needs to be shipped in 3 seperate boxes, so expect postage to come in above £35. Of course, you're more than welcome to collect.

If there's any interest, I'll post up pictures.

Cheers

Hi guys

Nice to see some interest. Wink

Here's 2 pictures; the first shows the subwoofer (this is an active subwoofer, you can change the volume level) and the front, LH speaker. The speakers are all identical. As you can see, it has no cover.

In the 2nd picture, you can see the centre speaker, with its cover on. I have all of the covers, if you wish to put them on.

All the speakers are exactly the same, and the 4 stands have 2 each of slightly different heights, 2 front and 2 rear.

The sub is powered via mains, and has the 2 sub leads. If your amp only has 1 sub input, you'll need to get a Y splitter, so you can get 2 channel bass. I can explain more of this to whoever buys.

They do not come with any original boxes, but the manual for them is available from the Mission website.

Bump.

These are 60W a channel, they haven't had the house party experience since I left my last set unattended at a house party, and someone cranked the amp up until they blew. Rolling Eyes

In a medium-large size room, I find watching TV puts it at about 40. A film at 50, music at 50, loud music at 60, tops. This is out of 100; but I think my amp is slightly more powerful than the speakers.

So they're not groundshakers. But they are staggeringly good for home cinema, and musically they're very good. Yes, you'll always get better musical sound with a 2 channel system running on a 2 channel amp; but honestly I've never been able to tell the difference.

If you don't want to pay for postage, I will deliver about 30 miles as a max - this means wherever you are, you'd have to at least get to Somerset.

I find the sub gives me very good bass at about 1/4 volume, and is very clear. Dual channel sub, so you get left and right.

The clarity from the speakers is unrivaled by anything I've had before this.

I'm in Cheddar, we're organising a meet in Weston Super Mare for the 27th of May, come along to that. I think we've got about 7 confirmed so far, and I'm still recruiting. Wink

I know how you feel mate. I've got a full Arcam set; CD player, tuner, 75watt amp, B&W speakers and good quality cables stored under the staircase for a year since I upgraded. I keep hoping that some one genuinely interested in quality music will take them off me, rather than a sniper on flea bay.
