Well, I haven't put the new parts on yet, but the bike goes up through the gears from N without using clutch, I'm guessing that's not normal?

What can I do? Shocked

And no I haven't started it up to check, just turned it on for the lights to come up.

Bike: Suzuki GSF400VVM.

Luckily for you clutchless upshifts are perfectly normal. I'd only do them from 2nd - 6th though.

They work particularly well if you are hammering it - just preload the gear lever with a bit of pressure and back off the throttle a bit and it should slot into the next gear silky smooth - no clutch needed.

Don't do it going down through the box though.

Nonono, the bike isn't going anywhere, as I came of and buggered it up. But the gear box *while it's on centre stand* allows it to go up through the gears without clutch, but not down to 1st.

You sometimes need to waggle the back wheel to go through the box with the engine off, but not always. Should be alright, depends what you've been doing - "new parts" doesn't really tell us much Wink

Try rocking the back wheel back and forth a little and it should drop down into first.

No, I just wanted to know if it's normal for the bike to go up through the gears, when the engine is not running Rolling Eyes.

I know how do to do clutchless upshifts and downshifts when I'm riding but I'm not, it's buggered.

New parts:

New indicators
Headlight
Engine casing
Gear lever
Footpeg
Heel bracket

I can do the same on most of my bikes, no problem. And yes I understand what you mean, bikes in the garage not moving, not started Laughing

Thanks Marki, all I wanted to know Smile.

Shall let you know how well of a job I do putting the stuff on!

Oh btw the bike turns more to the left than it does to the right (result of the crash, tank got slightly dented on the left).

Most of mine will go up a couple of gears but then require the rear wheel to be moved to align the dogs. A lot of them wouldn't go into 1st though, mainly because of neutral.

And this was without the engine running Mr. Green

Mind you, even with the engine running, my VFR400 would never go into neutral, bt this wasn't what you were asking, was it? Mr. Green

Cheers

Grim

You should be able to get it into all the gears, engine running or not, the lower gears, particularly first will be stickier cos they're smaller ratios.

Was just checking incase it was buggered. As you can tell, I don't know much about bikes and if it were buggered I'd have to get it fixed Razz.

Thanks.
