 |
|
Did something rather thick t'other day, battery was flat so quickly borrowed one out of a mates 400, and let it run for a bit. All of a sudden smoke started pouring from the rec, so switched the bike off. Realised then that must've been the amp difference
Now I've removed the rectifier, I can see that part of the connector block that goes into the loom is fried black and melted can I just plug in a new one somewhere or should it be ok to cut the connector and fit a new one. I have a spare rectifier ready to go :"> ____________________ TL1000s, KDX200 |

Thanks chaps, gonna need to cut out, and replace the connector block as half of it crumbled away in my hand will let ye know how I get on. Would it be worth checking the stator coils too? ____________________ TL1000s, KDX200 |

Not a VFR by any chance is it?
Get a new reg/rec off ebay for £35 (same as cbr600 one) and replace the wiring. |

Just connect it using bullet connectors. Cut back the burned stuff on the loom and the terminal on the new one and fit bullets to the ends of them.
You might want to look into why that happened a bit more thoroughly though, before you just plug in your new (expensive) rectifier in case that happens again. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
