I agree with tatters it should just drop out I think, consider that your forks seem to have had a battering, so they will be more likely to be a bit stuck.

Try putting bolt 23 back in a few turns and giving it a tap with a soft hammer, you might need a drift. Sometimes the damper rod seal can stick a bit.

USD forks I believe.

If soi follow Sickpups guide.

There are 2 types. The grub screw and the threaded.

A lot of Italian bikes have the Stanchions held into the knuckle using a 5mm grub screw in the knuckle which cuts into the stanchion. Any sticky out screws or allen heads that you can see?

Japanese bikes tend to take the threaded approach. The bottom of the stanchion will be threaded with eith a 1.25 or 1.5 thread but it's also glued in place.

I recommend weld some kind of handle to the old stanchion and cooking in a preheated oven at 50degrees or so for 20 minutes then remove, stick the knuckle in a vice and twist using the handles you welded on earlier.

You'll then have the prepared ingredients ready to reassemble.

rite there ok to be straitened with the bottom bit attatched, there in a bike shop in atherstone, they are charging me £15 per leg so £30, i was expecting a lot more to be honest, the guy said that because they are upside down forks they cant guarantee them cus the machine could crush them, which im quietly worried about.

thanks to you all for the help and advice, karma on the way Thumbs Up Mr. Green
