Well, we got a few problems with the "Freeby" Honda melody...

First. When you manage to get it going (Fuel direct into carb) the carb blows? But if you suck the tube that goes towards the fuel tank, then it fuels fine. If you blow... Nothing.
And then if you get it going... It doesnt idol? It revs up up up.. then stays there....

Any help apreciated!

You're not describing things very well dude.

So the bike runs when the float chamber is full, but it is not drawing fuel in from the tank? And what hose are you talking about? it could be a vacuum connection for the fuel tap on the 'prime' postion, if the Honda melody has this. Without the vacuum, it won't draw fuel from the tank and will also be sucking in extra air which my account for the revving itself up.

well it doesnt have a fuel tap or anything...

But yes, if you fill the float chamber, then turn it over, it will start... And rev up.. then when its empty.. it just shuts of..

And yes, it won't draw fuel from the tank.

A quick Paint drawing to show what i mean.

Then it uses the vacuum to open the tap, sounds like you need to get the tubes hooked up correctly, or perhaps poke the fuel tap a bit.

they are, secure as anything. But if you remove the pipe I said that it blows into.. and blow and look if anything comes out of the other side... it just dribbles...

Yet if you blow.... It flows really welll

And how do you mean poke the fuel tap abit? You mean put something into it??

Poke is the BCF technical term for pulling something apart and trying to fix it Wink

Oh, I dont know how!
Can't even get it out of the tank! It's got a big metal rod going into the tank, with something attached to the top, too big to get out!!

The little flying saucer object is attached to the rod, so you can't get that out, and it seems like it's a solid object too!

So let me get this right, the hose at the top lets petrol through when you suck on the bottom hose which means the tap is working. Yet the bottom hose is actualy blowing rather than sucking.

So the problem seems to be that the engine isn't creating a vacuum (for the bottom hose to use) impossible! perhaps someone has put a different carb on without a vacuum take off? or are there any other outlets on the cab and you have the hose on the wrong one?

Seeing as it was a freeby, you could just tap into the vacuum from the inlet manifold if you can't get this sorted.

Possibly? sorry but I have no idea why the vacuum outlet would be blowing. As the carb seems to work OK otherwise, may be worth tapping off the inlet manifold (like I said earlier) as it wont cost anything. Or getting a carb off ebay, which is a shame seeing as the bike was free.
