anyone know about Dysons?

Basically, ive got a Dyson DC04 upright vacuum that blew up last week. Im certain that it's the motor thats fucked, so i obtained a new one, and tried to change it. Only problem is that 2days later, i still can't work out how the bloody thing comes apart? Ive removed all of the little torqx screws, and the front part of the casing is now loose, but it wont come apart? I've now given up twice and gone back into the house to get pissed instead, but surely there must be a way to take these bloody things apart?

I can't get an exploded diagram or a manual for it either, from Dyson, as they won't give out any info for DIY repairs!

I found out the best way to dismantle a vacuum cleaner was to use the hose to suck up some petrol fumes. Once that gets into the motor it WILL come apart.. however, don't be surprised if some of the parts end up more than 150ft away... Shocked

I don't know how i did it, but ive got the motor out now, spent half an hour messing with it, and a little plastic part came off in my hand in one peice, without me having to use my lump hammer, which ive had on the bench next to it for 2days!

Now it looks like the fan has come apart and buggered up the motor. i just hope i can put this bloody thing back together after all the grief it has given me!

And yes your right, Dysons do suck lol!

Never mind a retro car, the next time i buy a vac, it will have to be an original hoover, without any silly plasticy crap and gimmicks!

I've replaced the motor in a DC07 before, won't be doing it again. Laughing

I still have nightmares about the stupid rubber sleeve that the motor fits into.

Well i did put it back together this morning before the F1 started. Im amazed that nothing broke in the process however! I tried it out for a few seconds, and it worked really well with the hose, sucking up all the dust and crap off my workbench, but when i tried it normally on the carpet, the rotating brush started squealing after a few seconds, and now it's stuck solid! Sad

Time to take it to a repair shop me thinks!

did anybody ever tell you not to use it as a toy?? you got the old motor gummed up and now your repairng it with a new one just to do the same thing??? i know all men like a nice oral.... but not as strong as a damn dyson, it'll pull yer knob off!! Shocked
