If i was to fit an end can with "Not For Road Use" stamped on the can - meaning its a race can,

But then fit a universal baffle kit inside it to make it quiet enough for the road.

Would the MOT station fail it because it has "Not For Road Use" stamped on it, despite the fact that it is actually quiet enough for the road?

Or would they pass it as it blatently has a baffle inside it?

The VOSA testing manual states that the motorcycle MUST not have any markings saying ''not for road use'' or ''race use only''. The exhaust does not have to carry a BS or E mark, as long as it isn't excessively loud compared to the bike's original system.

It would fail m8.

The new MOT rule is that any aftermarket (or system) fitted, need to be no louder than the stock system.

But, I think you may find that with Not for Road Use written on it they may fail it.

Phone and ask them. Thumbs Up

Its not fitted yet, im just having a think about whats going to happen when it arrives.

Trying to get all the plans up and in the air now so that when it comes to the crunch and i get the time - i can just get on and do what ever is needed.

Put the stock can on for the MOT if you have it, or rub out the stamp and baffle it, don't need a stamp if its quiet.

Right - so if im reading that right it means that:

"Not for road use" means a fail.

No Markings at all means its ok as long as it isnt too loud?

So if the can does have those markings on it - i could be up for a day with th grinder and polish - even though im putting a damn baffle in it? Sad

Edit:

The original exhaust wont pass an MOT, thats kind of the problem. I dont want a loud ass exhaust because mine is loud as it is, and i dont like it. I found a nice little mod and a nice can for about 1/8th of the price of a new replacement, rusty exhaust system.

Only problem is that its a race can, so i was hoping to just slip a baffle in it and be good.

Hmmmm, anyone around here good with a sander and brasso? Wink
