I had a quick clean of my bike this weekend and took a few snaps on a half decent camera, just thought I would share a few with you. I partly took them because she is going up for sale soon and wanted to see if there is any interest Very Happy (I know there won't be, but it's worth a try eh? Wink) All that really needs doing is the clocks need wiring up, hence the little box above them, and the mileage needs altering, there should only around 6.5k on the clocks, though they are showing 25,000+!

I must admit, she does clean up rather nicely:

So sorry Wave, I stole your angles! Look better on the SP1 and the Duke I must admit. Smile

Hope you enjoed my pictures, nothing special hence they are here not in Show and Tell, but still I think she does scrub up well Smile

Thanks alot, I like the rear end too it's mainly why I chose this even over the more powerful commuters because it does look the most modern and that tail is very nice in my opinion. I'm not too keen on twin headlights if I'm honest, as it was just a first big bike I thought I may aswell not spend much money on it other than the basics.

So far I have:

Exclamation Added new ZXR indicators because the originals are wang, and these were free.
Exclamation Took the hero blobs off because they were more hero broomsticks than blobs, I will attach a picture if I can find one.
Exclamation Added the decal of my favourite logo, I think it really looks good in all honesty.
Exclamation Changed the bars for 'MX' style bars, this makes the whole bike easier to ride and more comfortable in my opinion, also makes it look alot better.

Like I say, this bike was just to learn how to ride on, I still love riding it. My next bike will be an SV650s, I have heard many a good thing and I have grown to love how they sound. But I have clocked up my fair share of miles and the time has come to hand her over to the next rider who hopefully will treat her as well as I have.

Oh and cheers chalky, you really seem to like it Confused

Attached is a picture of the blob, and also to show you how very very versatile the bike is, how it carried these items over 300 miles without moaning! Laughing

Here is the blob, since removed because I think they are more dangerous attached:

A true workhorse, two Micron paddock stands, fit perfectly:

There's nothing at all wrong with it now, just needs the clocks wiring up which I am going to do soon and there is a few dents of which I have pictures, not going to post a price but anyone who is interested can PM me and we can sort something out, I can also send you pictures of the dents.

I wouldnt of thought the SV is much of a step up from the ER-5.

From the lights my GPZ stick's with them reasonably well. Think you would be better off buying a bike that is a bigger leap from the ER-5 personally. Around corner's both are probably capable of going faster than you or I can.

I didn't think so either at first, but they are actually quite a jump up, in terms of torque and speed they poop on the ER-5.

Yeah, that all depends on the rider, if he can't use his bike and you can then you are bound to stick with him. I just want more stability and a more confidence inspiring ride, also with a fairing. They also look and sound nice, and most importantly are cheaper to insure than even the lower powered 600s, I got a quote of £475 tpft for the year on this, whereas cheaper sports 600s are triple this.

Think if you want a cheap sport's type bike an early ZX-6R would be better, although more expensive. Unless you really wish to stick to twin's.

I have tried to get quotes on the early ZX-6R like I say and they are almost triple to insure, also the running costs are more expensive too. I don't mind sticking to twins I am going to enjoy the amount of torque I will have to play with and hopefully I will get some good experiences from the bike. Like how to wheelie easily etc.

If you are going to make a comparison based on 'from the lights'... are you sure the Sv rider was trying? Do you know that rider? Was he/she restricted?

I used to own a GPZ and now a K5 SV650s... so can make a good comparison. To put it simply the GPZ has nothing like the performance of an SV. Yes the gpz is fairly quick once moving (thanks to that fun 7k kick Wink ), but the fact that an SV has over double the torque soon shows itself.

The SV is never going to set the world on fire with it's power and it's still a 'sub 100mph' play thing, but is speed everything?

In the SV's case no speed isnt as you don't buy an SV for speed.. but the handling though is spot on. I've riden a fair few bikes now including a zx6 which you mentioned as a better possibility. Yet each time I get back on mine I prefer it's combination of narrow width, lightweight, flickability and to some an unknown quantity for cornering - good engine braking.

Now as i actually know phanny and having seen him ride I feel an SV would be a great choice for him.

i done a trackday on a SV650, pretty much standard engine set up and cans. the suspention had been hardened and it had an ohlines rear shock.
It was brilliant.
you could do this with a road SV slap cans on and stiffen the front suspention up.

Can't say i've ever had a problem with the forks on mine, but i've heard the curvys suffer from poor suspension. It only costs around £70 for stiffer springs though and it won't do any harm to change them if you feel the need.

Just be warned phanny that if you do get an SV you can't blame the suspension for poor performance as mines still stock and on factory settings Wink Laughing

I think you mean SCORPION can wave Wink

Ive heard a few and thought Scorpion was best sounding, lots of poeple on SV650.org says its just noise but i completly disagree Thumbs Down A lot of then have CCC cans (though never heard one) but was more than happy with my scorpion. Also nice and loud Very Happy

If you want a curvy one try and find a K2 for a number of reasons:
Arrow Newer so somtimes in better conditions
Arrow you'll have "one of the last of the "better" SV's Wink#
Arrow and lastly (and probably the only valid reason) they have adjustable pre-load on the fork so can stiffen then up a bit till you get fork internals done.

If im honest though, i should have got my fork internals and shock changed as never got on with the suspension on it. Maybe i have the setup wrong but i felt the budget suspension really let the rest of the Sv down. Still a great bike though Thumbs Up

Pointy owners don't generally suffer from fork diving problems because they ride slower apparently...don't push it as hard as the curvey riders...Wink

Reuben - Pfff....that sv rider isn't trying, the sv would hump the gpz in a drag race. Er5 does 0-60 in JUST under 6 seconds, sv is about 4.2 seconds and has a good 15bhp more? Roughly...Good enough for most and the torque makes up for the lack of the bhp....well, G will disagree with that comment but he's in self denial. Very Happy
