 |
|
Got myself a set of crash bars off Ebay last week, and we've fitted them today. All is good, less chance of me doing any expensive damage if I drop it now.
So I'm sitting on it checking if it feels any different (no) and making sure it doesn't interfere with my legs when riding or feet-down (well I do have chubby little legs ) when I had an Idea.
Told Himself, he looked at me like I was completely mental, shook his head and went inside to put the kettle on.
So what I was thinking was, on this bike the footrests are slightly (not much) set back, certainly more than I am used to, and on the couple of rides we have done so far this year I experienced a bit of cramp. it occurred to me that if I need to change position and move my legs I could put my feet on the bars for a bit? Is that really wrong? OK it might look a bit daft but it wouldn't be for long and it would be an ideal way to shift position without actually moving very much.......... ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Well from memory I guess some Harleys have two sets of footpegs, so I guess you *could* (assuming your position doesn't interfere with any moving or high temp parts)

I think on Harleys they are called 'frisco pegs or something.
They are legendary in the same way a sissy bar is. You wouldn't have 'em on a sportsbike, but on a harley or other cruiser or musclebike they are acceptable.
On a sportsbike you want pegs on the front wheel spindle so you can achieve stunting nirvana! ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

/me likes the idea of my bike being a muscle bike!
Only problem is, it would be a fairly small and under-developed musle........ ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

You can buy pegs designed to be clamped to bars for that exact purpose.. (check bits catalogues like busters or m&p there quite common, or custom magazines and stuff)
Of course if its raining it'll go up yer legs! Handy for long boring motorway stints though.. ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

As I have a sports bike I don't have engine bars, but that doesn't stop me putting my legs out and resting them on the crash bungs R&G's are great for resting your legs on |

Gawd I ripped a set of them off my xj650 Maxim last year. I'm sure I threw them away, but I'll check tomorrow and if I still have them you're welcome to 'em. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
