Check for bubbles in the radiator. Exclamation Take off the radiator cap and start the bike up. Just idling reving until it reaches half way. This should cause the thermostat to open (First check it opens) and then the water should circulate and you'll see bubbles coming out. Mr. Green top it up and then close the radiator cap. This should stop it shooting out. Remember not to fill the expansion tank too much as the water level rises a little when the bike heats up to normal temp.
All of this info is in the NSR manual which you should consult. Its very helpful.

Dont forget if its not fixed itself to get the bubbles out of the radiator. This is a common overheating problem and also incorrect 2 stroke.

Read my first reply to get the bubbles out of the radiator. Does the cylinder head look warped? Did you tighen it down properly?
Re-assemble the top end and fill the radiator. Then leave the radiator cap off and start the engine ( You will need to obviously get someone to hold the petrol tank. Let it run and you'll notice when the temp gets to half the thermostat will open which will allow the coolant to circulate and any excess air in the system will come out. Bubbles... When this stops cut the engine, top up the coolant when the level goes down again. put the cap back on and re-assemble and then go for a test run.
I strongly recommend you use castrol TTS 2 stroke and adjust the oil pump slightly on the open side so it uses a little more oil.
whilst you run in.
