Well today me and my dad cleared/painted walls and floor/sorted out/throw away lot of stuff in the garage and made it look really nice. We got rid of loads (but this isnt the point of my post)

Anyway, there is a nice space that a motorbike (dont currently own one due to accident but will again soon) could be parked instead of outside Crying or Very sad which i hated as so much nicer to bike to be stored in a garage.

My mum kindly let me put my RS125 in the garage about a year ago and after a day i had to move it outside again. This was because we have a connecting door to house and it made the whole house smell of that 2t smell Laughing I never started the bike in the garage or near it it was just from it standing in the garage.

So my question is, if i was to get a 4t bike and perswaded them to let me keep it in garage would it smell be as strong as 2t?? (i know 2t are worse but would be much better??) The problem being my mum is asmatic so sets her off and also not that nice for everyone if house smells of bikes Thumbs Down

No, because 4t's don't burn it (well, unless they are old or frakked!)

You should have noticed that your SV didn't smell as much as your 2 smoke, so I think you'll be fine as long as you don't get some crummy oil-burning rat bike!

You may occasionally get petrol smells. I'd much rather keep my bike away from the house simply because of smells and fire risk.

Yea i thought it smelt much less (though i do miss that 2t smell when warming the bike Very Happy) just was hoping it was enough that it wont smell the house out Confused

If i was to cover the exhaust would that make a difference to the smell spreading?? it still a while off but need to get the reason so i can perswade my mum Very Happy or cork in the exhaust even Shocked (like a big one of course!!)

My bike smells of 'Spring Breeze', I can't understand why the parents won't allow it to join the rest of the living room's ornaments. Confused

Just don't put the bike in the garage straight after a ride, I keep mine in a garage that is connected to the house and don't have a problem with smells unless I put it straight in the garage which makes the house smell of petrol.

Yea, you'd get a smell of whatever you covered it with burning instead Smile.

Don't see it being nearly as much of a problem with 4 strokes - lack of valves on the 2 stroke may not have helped as there's going to be a little bit of petroil left in the engine I presume.

i have an itegral garage. never smells of bike in the house.

I put it straight in after a run out, leave the main garage door open and potter in the garage til its cool enough to close the door.

never had an issue.

Yea i did, the only bikes that have been in the garage were RS125 and moped (2t) and my mum said they had to go outside and i was about to argue, took a deep breath and saw what she ment Shocked

SV never went in as the garage was a tip but now its nice and empty (i was ruthless Very Happy) and got rid off a bike or two aswell so lots of room.

Yea ill sugest that when i get another bike, i think that i could get it to work as when i did have bikes in the garage i didnt wait before putting them in the garage which would have made the difference. Cheers Thumbs Up

I also have a inside cover somewhere around, an oxford one that was given to me when i brought a bike so that would help i feel

Cheers guys, the bike will be garaged when i get another (not that long now!!)though might miss summer due to funds and no full time job

if i park the thundercat in the yard behind my house you can smell petrol in the backroom even though the windows are shut Confused .

@andy

you could always tape the breather pipes up when its stored in the garage as thats were the smell of petrol is coming from.

at least i think you can without it being detrimental to the running of the bike.

Hi

Not sure on the smell you mean. But if it is just a petrol smell then that is likely to be the fuel tank breather, and pretty much independent of whether it is a 4 stroke or a 2 stroke.

All the best

Keith
