Thickos question again...

Basically, long and short..
cushy lil job, admin, interview maybe...

I always always have this problem in my head with pro rata pay
I LOVE an hourly figure Very Happy
I am old
Anyways...

Stats>

25 hours / 11,193 - 14,523 squids a year - Term Time Only - PRO RATA
Readin the specs, it also says that the annual leave is included in this, so... yeah...

Now, I did 25, divided by 37 times by blah blah...(squid number), = , then that divided by 12
Is that right ?
And pro rata means I get paid that sum monthly all year, even in school holidays.
?? It's just the sum divided into 12, which is what pro rata means

Oh God, I need a drink Confused
My brain hurts

Anyone help ??

Thanks ever so in advance

Working pro rata means you get paid pro rata. i.e if you work half time you get paid half the full time rate etc etc. Work out the hourly rate and theres your 25 hrs per week.

Pro rata basically means 'a proportion of'. £8.17 per hour I think.

If its 12k for a 37 hour week and you do 18.5 hours you'll get 6k. thats how I understand it.

I dont think it will be anything like £8ph im afraid.
You are looking at a £14k job paying roughly £1166 per month if you work 8 hours a day 5 days a week.
But with this job being term time only, there will be weeks when you wont get paid, because of school holidays etc, so you will only get £1166 for a few months of the year.
Its not very well paid is what im trying to say.

Does that make any sense at all Embarassed

£14,523 divided by 12 (months) = £1,210.25 per month

£1,210.25 divided by 4 (weeks) = £302.56 per week

Divided by 37 (hours) = £8.17 per hour.

£8.17 times 25 hours (per week) = £204.25 per week

thats how I work it out anyhow, assuming you get the top rate of pay.

£14,523 / 52 = £279.29 per week

£279.29 / 25 = £11.17 hourly rate.

The pro-rata means that while your salary is technically £14k, if you are only working a 37 week year then you are only earning around £10,330 p/a.

The salary mentioned is full time (lets assume 37 hours per week is full time for that job - if not, you need to redo the calculations). Pro rata is latin and basically means proportionally, or a proportion of. To work out how much you will be paid, you need:

part_time_hours/full_time_hours x annual salary.

Assuming you are only working 25 hours a week in termtime only (3 terms of 9 weeks), you need to look at something like this:

In one year, a full-time member of staff actually attends work for: 365 - 104 (Sat & Sun) - 8 (bank holidays) - 30 (paid leave) = 223 days. This is equivalent to 223 x 37 (weekly hours) / 5 (days per week) = 1650.2 hours.

You will work 9 weeks x 3 terms x 25 hours per week = 675 hours per year actually worked.

Pro rata, you will be paid 675/1650.2 x £14,523 = £5940.51
You will be working just less than 41% of full time.

It's up to you and them how they pay you - basically the easy option is just to get 1/12 of it every month. So that would be £495.04 each month (less tax, NI, pension, etc.).

It's basically £8.80 per hour actually worked (i.e. pretending all holidays were unpaid). If you factored in paid holiday, it would be nearer £7.50.
