Opinions and knowledge on Yamaha SZR660

I'm seriously tempted to buy one of these for commuting and taking the girlfriend out very rarely. She's only little, like 5'5 tall and 8 stone, so the lack of power from the single cyl engine shouldnt be a big issue.

Will it be able to cruise at 80 odd and will it take a pillion I know theres other alternatives but I want something with character and their dirt cheap and simple too

It'll be my everyday bike, as I have the zxr for hooning.

I have ridden loply's off this forum SZR660.

Engine is mad as a box of frogs, will sit at 80 happily..quite quick and will definatly leave you with a smile on your face.

They are very small (being a TZR125 frame with a 660 motor in it)
But handling is confidence inspiring and feels good somehow.

Cheers dodsi, just wondering if it'd be too small for pillioning and the low prices got the alarm bells ringing a bit I really like the look em though

I've always liked the look of the SZR, but they seem rare!.

A mate of mine has just brought one of these.

I had a quick go on it and it was a very responsive motor, instant power soon as you snap the throttle.

Its basically a TZR chassis, forks and swingarm with a 660 single engine (as also used in an MZ).

They are only single disk as standard, but can be converted to two fairly easily.
