NAh I think it's a good thing. Thumbs Up

It's all good fun on a track in the right environment, and looks funny as hell when you see guys racing (as shown in the link) Laughing

But out on the road?? Are you kidding?? There's a quite recent post on here somewhere about two kids going up in smoke on one of those things and if you read through it it makes you're guts churn. Sick

From personal experience, some little gansta twat crashed into my leg outside a newsagents in Balham and in Mile end park some shirtless chav git was ripping between families sitting on the grass, I'd be quite pleased to see them confined to private property, tracks and at circuses.

So for just about the first time ever, "well done John Reid".......

(my one gripe though is road legal Monkey and Gorrilla bikes could be roped into this category)

Been meaning to write a letter to the local paper that had some stuff about this.
As usual, rather than trying to find a legitimate way for young people to enjoy doing the things they do, it's 'ban, ban, ban'.

It'd be nice to see a scheme to open up a local place where they could be ridden and say 'You can ride them legally here /but/ this means there's now no excuse to ride them on the road' or something to that effect.

Nah not banning for the sake of banning, but I think regulating is more appropriate. Let them ride them but not at other peoples risk.

I couldn't give a monkies if some chavtastic Evel Kenievel wannabe wants to launch his minimoto at an oncoming train but what gets my goat is when they raz around on the pavement and through public parks. Why the hell should I suffer when my two year old son is knocked down by an equally immature twat showing off to his mates??

Gets my goat......and I don't even have kids, hehehe Wink

Banning them is not going to stop people from being d**ks about how the use them, you see people riding about on scootas and road bikes in the parks and what not but they going to ban them aswell
At the end of the day its down the user to act responable about how they use them, i have one my self as well do a couple of my mates when we use our its down at the trading estate on a sunday afternoon when noone is working there the road never has a car on it on a sunday and when a car come we pull over for it, at the end of the day we dont wont to be run over

At the moment if you get caught in a park on a mini moto or riding on the pavement I think you get a severe ticking off. If you ride through Mile end park on your road bike "for fun" I'm pretty sure you'll lose your license. The difference is that the road bikes and scooters are regulated and by law you can't just jump on one and piss about. You want to razz about on your bike and not endager anyone else, you go to a track...should be the same with these bikes.

Mini moto need to be regulated somehow, but it's hard without imposing license type laws, which then would allow them on the road Confused

If you are going to 'ban' them from being used, well they already are in public places.

If you want to ban their sale, well, not only is that rather unfair, but at what point does a motorbike stop being a 'mini' motorbike? Maybe they should just ban 'em all, eh?

You have to have TPO insurance to ride a minimoto in a public place.
To get insurance you must have a valid driving licence.

A bloke 3 doors away from me recently purchased one for his 9 year old and rang my doorbell asking me to set it up for him which I did. I knew damn well that he wouldn't bother sticking to the rules in respect of where they should be ridden however I didn't wanna be seen as the stick in the mud neighbour so kept my gob shut.

What happens?

Last weekend I'm sat watching the TV and see his kid whizz by on the road (admittedly it's a cul de sac so we get very little traffic) and around the rear of the houses to a small (about 2 acres) wooded area that's behind our property (it's not privately owned land). The washing's out, there's two stroke smell wafting into the house 'cos all the windows are open in view of the hot weather and the noise is bloody irritating.

I gave it 15 minutes to see if I could stand it but in the end just rang the Rozzers as I couldn't be bothered with the confrontation (since then I've found out a few of my neighbours did too). He was visited by the Fuzz yesterday evening according to my neighbour so I assume they gave him a brief rundown of the Do's and Don'ts.

I couldn't give two tosses if they're being ridden legally, you can have great fun on them (and more importantly) it won't affect me. However when they're pissing past your house and buggering up a lazy Sunday afternoon after a BBQ and a few cans of Stella it's the last thing you want.

Not really; there are legit places round the country where you can take minimoto's quite happily.

People get cautioned before they're risking having them crushed and being fined anyway

Nearest one to Reading is over an hour's drive away I believe.
Not really that 'happily' for your average 14 year old.

Well getting mildly confused about the law and these things.

They're already banned in public places, but you need TPO insurance to ride one in a public place ?!? Eh what.

Anyway I agree with Ste here, can they not just treat them like go-carts?

When the local chavs spend all bloody day zooming around the block in a group (there's about 5 of them, 4 on mini motos, 1 on a "field bike") for weeks on end and the police do fuck all, it makes me want to run cheese wire across the alleys they use.

My bad, this used to be the case.

Is the case for other towns out there.

Not that the M4 minimoto was a very good 'track' imo.

Perhaps the council should be trying to promote the legal places at the same time; especially to parents.
