Just wondering if anyone has ridden on them before as i haven't.

I've heard they feel a lot different to treaded tyres but can anyone explain how?

I'm thinking of maybe using them on the track bike next year Thinking

Are you fast. Like really fast, if not stick with sticky road tyres, also your looking at another set of wheels to put wets / treaded tyres on.

As above, stick with Pirelli Supercorsa's for now, once you start finding the limits of them, then look at using slicks.

Mick / Davo

How did you find the difference between slicks and road tyres?

No i'm not really fast yet, far from it, i've not yet found the limits of the Metzeler Racetec's i'm running now.

But i'd still like to have a go on a bike that has slicks on

ive not ridden a big bike with them on. Only 125GP bikes. And they are crazy. We use the softest compounds and they are amazing. Like the bike is on rails. They dont last long though before they start fading away. Our Dunlop B's do about 30 laps before they start to tire out!

They do move about alot when pushed been so soft, but they stick and are very predictable once you get used to it. Harde compounds will move around less I would have thought, but wont have quite the ammount of grip.

I notice no difference to riding treaded tyres even the wets we use on the 125! Ive ridden tons of road bikes like R6's and stuff and ride etc feels no different really?? Dunno why they should? Just you have alot of extra grip around corners.

Give them a go. Even if they do feel 'different' they are still gonna be better than a soft road tyre!

I've used them.

They do give massive amounts of grips when used right.
However Supercorsas are pretty damn good themselves and can be got cheaply and readily part worn.

Slicks really need tyre warmers if possible.

If you have found the limits of 'lesser' tyres, they won't really offer you much, apart from increased cost.

Hmm so the consensus is apart from the extra grip they give, they don't feel any different to a soft treaded tyre to ride on? Thinking

Thanks for the replies peeps Thumbs Up

I was thinking about going for slicks before I got the racetec's on mine. But due to not having tyre warmers I went for the Metz's, and the fact I'd get a few miles out of them on the road.

I'd love to have a go with slicks, see what the real difference is, and might go for a set when I've built my track bike.
