We all know insurance companies are scum , but I'm just wondering
how come my insurance is going backwards? (ie costs more) , I'm looking for a small CC hack to suplement my NTV , and looking at insurance it seems to be going up even though my profile should be making it go down.

Ie I've got more experience
more NCB
I'm older (past the major insurance landmarks of 21 and 25.

How come it costs more for smaller older crappier bikes than my NTV, I'm semi interested in Craig's 450DX , a GT550 and a GPX600 , also a CB250, all less BHP (cept the GPX) , all older than the NTV and all used for the same purpose (ie commuting) and all pretty undersirable to crooks and chavs who want a ride, but all 200% more on the insurance!.(though note crooks and insurance are the same side of the scummy coin)

even an 3 year older NTV600 , which is smaller CC less BHP less value
and older costs 200% more.

How come? , insurance companies want a bigger profit? , me not looking hard enough ? ,

the area I live in hasn't changed (though it shouldn't m,ater as I use TPO) it is still down town Beiruit , ie drive bys gang rapes, hookers dealers gang bangers etc.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I think the answer is plain, God hates you...

He shows his hate and distain by causing unrest around the world, which leads way to revolutions, which gave way to democracy, which in turn seems to suggest capitalism nowadays, which in turn means we all get raped in the ass finantially at every available opportunity.

Learn to haggle. Make up lower quotations from other companies.

They want your business remember, haggle with them to the death and explain to them why you won't take their offer if it is too much.

Its the same with me with car insurance.
People i used to deal with used to be cheaper, but know they all getting more expensive.
I'm older, full ncb,3 points less on my licence (now at 3) and a bloody 1.7 puma costs me more to insure now then my old mx5 a few years ago ! And thats with alot of shopping around !

Life stinks !

its because the premium is based on the risk. so it goes as follows:

125cc bike-
typical riders: Learners, youngsters, commuters
Risks: learner = high risk, Youngsters = high risk, Commuter = high risk (generally based on in cities cars pull out, etc...)

young learners really bump the premium up here, but as the rating goes on the bike, you get the privelige of paying for this.

Another HUGE risk with 125's is crime. Pikeys generally take small cc bikes over larger machines. (generally more "proffesional" outfits take gixxers etc...)

all of this means VERY risky to insure. and high premiums

"Big" bike (NTV style)-
Typical rider: commuter, familly person. practical over pleasure.
Risk: commuter = High risk. other than that people with this type of bike are normally fairly sensible (or at least dont crash)

risk generally low. As is the normal cost of the machine/replacement parts

"big" bike (gixxer 600 style thing)-
Typical rider: pleasure over practical, sunday riders.
Risks: High for crashing due to people pushing the limits. although generally low mileage amounts help keep prices down a little

so risk is average to high. however, due to high replacement/parts costs premiums are high.

it is the same with cars to a degree, for example. try isuring a citroen saxo (any model, doesnt even have to be the vtr) then compare the premium to that given for a ford mondeo 1.8 ghia of similar age etc..., or a vectra. Because boy racers buy saxos and crash em, the cost to insure is very high, quite often a bigger car can cost less. Because familly men dont crash as much and they are the ones with the mondeos or vectras.

if you stay with a company, they are tempted to increase the price as most ppl just renew without checking

if you get a lower quote elsewhere, then your company will lower your renewal price accordingly if you threaten to move.

a good price initially is just to get you in as a customer, they then rely on your inertia and start cranking the prices up until you notice

Itchy, out of curiosity how much is your renewal for ? I know what you mean though, it does seem a bit irish in it going up instead of down, try shopping about for some better quotations. It will be interesting to see what mine will be come January, was happy with it anyway so hopefully it will make me smile even more Mr. Green

Still ring around. For my TRX renewal they said "we've got you the best quote we can" - I claim to have got a better quote by £20 (£130 and £110) - "oh, well we can do this and this and do it for you for £105" - so why didn't they tell me that first if they've got the best quote they can, eh?
They did it for £100 in the end.
£30 for me to spend in the pub Wink.
