I am getting a "strange" feedback through the rear brake pedal. Wasnt there when i first got the bike a few weeks ago. When i press my foot down i get what i can only describe as little bumps coming through it. Like a slow vibration maybe. Its enough to move my foot a little. Brake pad is fine, as is the disc (no warping, grooves or lip). Any ideas? Thumbs Up

Sounds like a warped disc but as you say its not that, does the pedal touch anything when you push it down??

If you are sure about the pads/disk, you need to investigate if the whole caliper or wheel is moving -

wheel bearings
caliper mounts
whatever is stopping the caliper from whizzing around the wheel when you brake (usually a reaction arm of some type)

Hi, the pedal doesnt touch anything on the bike/frame when pressed. I was thinking maybe the bearings . How do i check these ? Im not mechanically minded ! Razz

Is it a F650CS? If so there was a recall for the rear caliper - click here for info. Has this work been done?

Could be the caliper moving, although I would doubt it. Just a thought.

To check the bearings...You need the back wheel off the ground and grab the wheel at 3 & 9 o'clock positions and try to wobble it. If the bearings are shot there will be play in them. Also mve the wheel slowly round and as you are doing it feel for 'grittyness' in the movement, that indicates they are on the way out.

Wheel bearings seem absolutely fine.

I have took some pics of what i think maybe causing it. Im probably wrong but here they are. Behind the frame there is a round thing covered in grease that is connected to the brake lever and the chain seems to run over it. Im thinking the chain may need adjusting, but to be honest it only has about one and a half inch play. Any ideas? Could this be causing it ?

you have links which are rusted up. see how that one isnt in line with the others

Problem sorted. Tightened the chain a bit and lubed it, the vibes have stopped. Will be getting a new chain asap . Cheers for replies Thumbs Up
