Does it matter how fast your indicators flash?

My nsr came with no front indicators and no bulbs in the rear ones, after putting bulbs in the rear ones (10amp, as it says inside the light) and fitting indicators to the front they flash quicker than normal (or what I'd consider normal)

Do they have to flash at a certain speed or will faster be ok? I don't want to take it for a test just for it to fail on the indicators flashing too fast!

Thanks
Rob

Looks like I need new bulbs then, at least I think that will slow them down!

But before I go buying new bulbs I'm gonna sit and count how many times they flash in a minute! (I take it you meant 60-120 times a minute not second! That would be some flash rate!!)

Thanks
Rob

couldn't the size of the indicator relay affect the flashing rate?

Very Happy Do you wanna change that to 60-120 times a MINUTE instead? 60-120 a second lol, can you imagine the MOT tester trying to count them!

But you are basically right, it is 60-120 times per minute to comply with the regulations.

its not the bulbs!!

that will do jack shit..

you need to change the relay,

thats wot tells the bulb wot to do and sends the right amount of currend for the command

Something is wrong then, they dont flash at all unless both front and rear bulbs are in, and when I had 2 16amp bulbs they flashed once then went off

The combination I have at the minute is 10amp in the rear, 16amp up front

If the worst comes to the worst I'm sure I can splash out on a new relay

Thing is Higher wattage bulbs would do the same thing as a new relay.

They are only flashing fast due to low resistance, you may have another problem.

since i installed LED indi's on the rear and kept standard indo's on the front my flash rate has doubled.

I quite like it like that TBH

MOT'ing the bike wasnt a problem, it's always good to go to an MOT'er who's a biker Thumbs Up

You don't need indicators for the MOT, take them off and then sort it. Cool Thumbs Up

Erm, 10 and 16 amp bulbs? I don't think your bike could handle it. I think you mean watts. You need 12V 10W bulbs in your indicators with a standard flasher relay on an NSR. I am currently using only 4W bulbs in each of my NSR indicators, but the relay can handle this small current. I got it from Wemoto. They are, to my surprise, flashing at a constant rate. Higher wattage bulbs will clog down your charging system and your battery will not be able to cope if your headlights are on aswell.

if you still have the indicator switch, you need to have indicators.

If any of the indicator mechanism is present, the full system has to work.
