How many jobs do you have? , just curious as it seems all my colleagues me and all SR125 girl's colleagues (peers all being 20 something semi qualified associates rather than the bosses at the top) , all have 2nd or even 3rd jobs.

semi wondering why wages for professional jobs are so low we have to take them to make ends meet.

i worked two jobs for a while to get together the deposit for a mortgage.

Working two jobs isnt much different from putting in a lot of overtime.

Some jobs expect you to do that unpaid.

I'm working a full time job at the moment, but working shifts so I get a fair amount of free time between rotas.
So I'm already looking out for a part time 2nd job at the moment (and planning to put the extra cash into my bike fund so that I can hopefully get a CBR600F for next summer Thumbs Up )

...assuming I'm not doing any overtime, mine is something like 2 days, 2 nights then 8 off at the moment Shocked

(I'm really feeling the pinch since our overtime opportunities were cut during the past year. We were all doing so much overtime this time last year that the powers-that-be realised it would be cheaper to generate a new position and employ a new member of staff).

I prefer to work a second job than work overtime as it gives a little variety, also where I work I actually get paid less for overtime than I do for normal hours which sucks a little.

Two jobs would be a luxury, I currently have four.

One full time (9-5 Mon-Fri), one voluntary (NABD Treasurer, any spare time) and two at weekends (small firms, not enough work or money for full time Accounts Manager).

Cheers,

Byrnie.

I've been doing so much overtime through out summer that every week I've been paid up to twice what I normally get.. Shocked overtime is starting to die out now so I might get a second job too..

Life is a bit boring when you work from 7am till 8pm every day including saturday and sunday, but the money is wortht it, can't keep it up for long but it's paying for what I want to do so once I get what I want I'll cut the overtime hours down a bit Cool

At its worst I had 4 jobs. I was a landlord, I worked full time for social services, I worked bank for the health authority in a secure hospital and I had started my own business. It's ok for a while and you can cope, just. After 18 months I took a fortnights holiday, got a virus on the way home and have had post viral fatigue ever since, so on reflection I dont think it was worth flogging myself to death.

Just the one job, 56 hours/week. Seems like I've got so much time off these days (used to be 80 hours/week) I keep thinking about doing some extra work at weekends.

I was thinking that last week when I was completely out-of-it-knackered... I been working silly hours since late May, hardly had any time off but then I think about what I'll be doing this winter and next summer and realise it's worth it Cool I don't know how anyone can work silly hours non-stop for months and months on end, but I can understand working hard for 6 months or so to get something you want then cut the overtime down when you got it..

Its sometimes a pain in the ass but its good because i get alot of time too myself, too much infact

Thats been the problem andy. I was thinking a 2nd job would have to be somewhere i was already established so could kind of have a loose leash and mostly be available for cover

Uh huh I do 3 jobs currently Number cruncher , chef (moved up from dishwashing
@ 2AM which was surprising well paid) , and sometimes do other things like delivery
driver for hot food (insured!) ,

I just felt run down after yesterday , finishing off me day job , a couple hours frat with the
staff , making another unsucessful move on a girl , then getting home burning off the booze
on the BCF for a couple hours , then getting a ride to work to finish off the tail end of
the shift and to prep food for Saturday for the main chefs.

Woke up Saturday morning absolutely destroyed , and had to work 6 hours on Saturday
evening. kinda ironic in that I make more £££ outside my main job.

I do it to keep myself entertained and to get some ££££ for my own business some day
(re my wages vs biz thread about 9 months back).

I have 3 jobs. I work full time as a sales administrator, then I am a part time youth worker (just one evening per week), and I also work for Camp America as an interviewer, doing between 1 and 8 hours per week.

It wasn't an intentional thing to end up with three jobs, I have been doing the interviewing for over 5 years (started while I was at Uni) and carried it on because I love it so much. The youth work I did because I was thinking about being a teacher and wanted some more experience. I'm thinking of jacking it in, but the money is good for doing very little and even then I think I'd have to get another part time job purely because I enjoy working.

I like to be busy, I don't think I could cope just working one full time job!
