Well as I am now unemployed I have started a claim for JSA!
However I have just been offered a PT job and im not sure to take it or not!!
Its only 15hrs a week and £min wage (what ever that is?)
If I take the Job can I still claim JSA as its not full time (What I need) and can I still get Tax/Rent benifit?
Also as its 15< hrs do I even need to declaire it?
Many thanks, I said ill let him know by friday. ____________________ Carbon closet tart! https://www.bikepics.com/members/r6stuk/02r6/

Congrats you just fell into the poverty trap , ie it is more beneficial to stay on JSA
or work less hours than it is to go out and work,
but lets see JSA £55/week
15 hours x 5.05 =£75.75 YOU WILL PAY NO TAX since you only pay income tax
when you earn more than 92ish a week(ie the personal allowance limit).Does not
stop the IR taking it though you can and ought to claim it back ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will. In the end, your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching. |

Some common misconceptions being bandied about yet again.
Housing benefit is administered by your council, not the DWP, and is totally seperate to JSA. You can still claim housing (and council tax) benefit if you are working, how much you get is worked out on a sliding scale dependent on your income and your circumstances (ie if you have a pertner, kids etc).
Housing benefit is also usually capped so if you are in private rented accommodation even getting full JSA and full housing benefit doesn't necessarily mean all your rent will get paid.
The rules are also extremely complicated if you own your home rather than renting. You can get benefit towards paying your mortgage interest but it's very complicated to claim, there are all sorts of restrictions on it and you don't get very much.
Re your JSA, claim and work is your best bet, especially if you are working part time and only earning the figure that Itchy suggests. When you are registered for JSA you will also get NI credits towards your pension. (Your wage is under the NI threshold so you won't have to pay any) I know it's a long way off for you but a break in your NI conts at this stage may mean you don't qualify for a full pension when you retire. ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

Should I tell them if I do?
