Why do Spain have 3 GP's? Jerez, Catalunya and Valencia?

Surely it isn't very fair on countries that want to get it on the act?

Doesn't Japan have 2 GP's as well? Suzuka and Motegi.

Can't understand why there needs to be more than one race in a country. Confused

There is no Suzuka GP this year.
The only other thing I could find is that the other races in spain apart from Jerez, are the Catalunyan, and Valencian GP's, not two more Spanish GP's. It seems as they are two provinces, they can have their own race.

They have them wherever the fan base is strongest. The Spanish ones are always overfull, so they get good figures.

Dorna are clever, not like Bernie and F1, they go where the fans want them to be, not to a circuit that's been built for the job. Case in point, the older Assen, it wasn't a first class facility (although, I've never been, but not a standard like Qatar etc) but they alway raced on there. But now they've finally altered the track there.

Brno, for instance, isn't a huge first rate circuit, its really nice and is a great track to ride on, but not on the same level as Donington or Barcelona. But they get huge crowds.

MotoGP is based around the fans response, not the big money that the ogranisers can get in their pockets.

Cool.

I hate the Qatar track, especially as it is a really hard track to master.

I'd like to see the WSB or even MotoGP bike's go to Spa, that was (is) the best F1 circuit out there, Bernie really screwed up when he removed that on from the callendar.

I know they do the Spa 8 hour there, but a sprint race would be interesting!

Thumbs Up

Oh yes, I used to love driving that track on the PS1!!

Is it La Coeurve or something just before the long back straight, a lovely left/right sweeping corner, could imagine seeing some wheely action off that corner. Thumbs Up Very Happy

Surely the more fans a track gets the more tickets they sell = MORE money for the organisers?
So they ARE just doing it for the money!

https://www.motogp.com/en/motogp/motogp_calendar.htm?menu=calendar

Each track has a different flag next to it, so yes they are all in Spain, but in effect could be classed as racing in separate countries if you get my drift Confused

It's called "oh rouge" well that's how it's pronounced but i bet it's not spelt like that.

I think it would be good if MotoGP went to Monza, image Rossi and that smoking it round the Parabolica(sp)

Eau Rouge, I believe. Thumbs Up

Yes, cracking corner, as was the Bus Stop until the butchered it!

Also on the approach to the bus stop are some pretty fast sweeping corners.

Moto GP is HUUUGE in Spain. When I was over there I saw more Pedrosa and Rossi rep shirts than football shirts.

Yes, but they're doing it the right way. Getting the fans in the seats, rather than stinging the circuits for the cash up front, like Bernie does.
I should have mentioned that in my first post. Wink

Absolutely - couldn't agree more.
Much better organised than F1. That short-arse 'Bernie' couldn't organise a p***up in a Brewery! Rolling Eyes

And I think F1 has pretty much had its day anyway.
As technological demonstrations - the cars are simply AWESOME!
As a spectator sport with little overtaking, etc... POINTLESS!
Personally I feel they should lose all the traction controls, etc, MUCH less downforce, thinner tyres and bring back some RACING.
Someone taking the lead cos the other guy had to pit longer is NOT racing! Mad

Was going to start new thread but you guys seem to know your tracks and corners. What track on the Moto GP (could be World Superbikes) circuit has a 180MPH corner?

Le mans's turn 1 has ridiculously high entrance speed which is not as high as it was since the put a chicane in after it recently

Do you mean the La Sarthe circuit? Yeah I know the bend you mean, but do they race at La Sarthe in Moto GP/World Superbikes?

Yep, MotoGP do.

Alberto Puig's riding career ended in the air fence there back in '95 if my memory serves me right

Fastest corner on the calender is at the Turkish grand prix. Think the top speed through there is 180.

The one in Turkey's the best corner on the entire calendar if you ask me. Anyone who saw what happened during/after that corner on the final lap of this year's 250cc race would agree. Shocked

Was that where there were like 4 or 5 side by side so they got bottlenecked and one shot off into the graveltrap??

Missed it but saw it on Youtube earlier today Very Happy (If it's same incident)

EDIT: Here Very Happy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IsMO0-9fU8

That's the one. Sooo lucky to keep it upright at well into 3 figures on the grass. Shocked The whole race was really good, probably the best 250cc one I've seen.

Best race I ever saw was last year. Can't remember what circuit but it was where Rossi and Gibernau battled it out all the way, then on the last lap they let loose and the lead changed hands 5 times, battling to the core until Rossi just got inside Gibernau on the last corner, Gibernau went to ram him but bounced off and got what he deserved.

Most intense lap of racing I've ever seen and an AWESOME race Very HappyThumbs Up

Yeah the first race of the 2005 season. At Jerez. On the last corner. Oh how I fucking screamed, intense.
