my friend and i want to do a motorcycle trip in france, is it possible he can do it on his cbt as he doesn't have the money for his test.

The rule's get a bit complicated and differ depending on the country, but I think you do need to have a licence, unless maybe you ride a 50, but you need to look into that.

You also need to be 18, unless again it's a 50 where there could be a loophole.

I'm not sure all insurance companies are that clued up on this subject.

Robby off here ok'ed it with his insurance company before he went to France on his CB250 at 17, which isn't legal.

You are not allowed to ride in France on a learner licence (above 50cc) and yes you must be 18 as well.

I'm not sure, until about 4-5 years ago you didn't need to register a bike of less than 50cc (no number plates or tax/mot etc).

That all changed and now any bike before the cut off date is still exempt, but all new ones require it.

I'm not sure where that leaves brits on hols with their vehicle, but I would probably expect the answer to be no.
