Taken from HERE

https://www.motorcycledaily.com/082206_top.jpg

Kawasaki announced today that the Z1000 naked bike has been completely redesigned for 2007. Following the company's commitment to strive for class-leading performance in every category, the new Z1000 features a new, more powerful motor allied to a heavily upgraded chassis which appears to feature sportbike-quality components.

Kawasaki's press release gives little detail regarding the new 1000cc motor, but according to our sources, the powerplant is derived from that of Kawasaki's ZX-10R superbike. Whether this motor is based on the powerplant from the current ZX-10R or that of its predecessor, we're not sure. What we do know is that the motor has been 'retuned' for more low-end power and torque. Unfortunately, in this class 'retuned' is usually a euphemism for 'detuned' - we hope Kawasaki can change that by bettering the ZX10R's low-end performance with the Z1000.

Again, few details are available regarding the suspension, but the front forks appear to be similar to those found on Kawasaki's Ninja ZX-6R and ZX-10R sportbikes. The front brake calipers are radial-mount type, and clamp large wavy rotors, again similar to those found on the Ninja line.

https://www.motorcycledaily.com/082206_side1.jpg

The redesigned chassis is aluminum and, at least from what we can tell, appears similar to the monocoque design Kawasaki has used on other recent models like its ZX-14 hyper-tourer.

Of course, all-new styling is wrapped around all this new metal. The '07 model maintains some similarity to its predecessor (particularly in the small fairing/headlight unit and tailsection), while at the same time featuring small side shrouds that display a clear styling link to the full side fairings of the ZX-10R. The new dual-pipe, quad-outlet exhaust is likely to prove just as controversial as the four-muffler setup found on the original Z1000 - although, for those who fall on the negative side of the 'love it or hate it' equation, more conventional-looking aftermarket units will likely be available soon after the bike's release.

I think I prefer the old one Confused

I like it but.. wtf were the designers smoking when they drew the exhaust? Apparently it will have ABS.. won't that mess up it's stoppie ability?

ANyways check out the new z750! i love it apart from the weird red bits+rim tape.

Wouldn't have thought so. ABS only kicks in just as the wheels start to lock. It would take a fairly poorly performed stoppie to lock the front up - you apply the brakes gradually at first to built the load - the rapidly increase the braking until it's up. ABS would only provent you from going 'down' if you grabbed them sharply at the start.

Besides, few bikes come just with ABS. Usually it's an option to have one with or without it as not everyone likes it and they wouldn't want to lose sales over it.

Anyway, I like the new one - looks very mean Thumbs Up

I also like how they've finally put USD forks on the z750. Swing arms still budget though.... Hang on? are you absolutely sure there is a new 2007 z750 as I can find no detail on it? Judging by those black downpipes lead me to suspect it's just a first production run Z (later hbikes had gold hued pipes) with the seat cowl sub frame covers removed, a carbon can and a zx series fork conversion Wink

As do I. I can't see any significant as to why I'd buy a new one over a better looking example a couple of years older, for under half the price.

hmm dunno man. all i found on it was this short bit of blurb on raptors and rockets. Maybe it's just a mockup of how they think it'll look like you say. https://www.raptorsandrockets.com/news.html

Well let's hope they do as next to the hornet, it's main rival the z750 is lacking in the tart accessories like USD forks etc.

Stop complaining about the exhausts, you can thank our good EU friends for that with their shitty Euro3 emissions laws that come into place next year.

^^ It's just a modified 2004 model with a can, zx fork/brakes and some of the side plastics removed. As to the red, it could be photoshopped but it could also easily be painted on with engine laquear.

I'm hoping the new one won't be as good since that'll mean the resale value of my 06 Z1000 is f**ked Rolling Eyes Not convinced about the new exhaust, they're a bit...cartoon-ish to me.

On a slightly related note, I'm thinking of repainting my blue z1000 (candy raw plasma blue). Early ideas are a nice ferrari-ish red, maybe fading into black. Pity that guy offering to spray bikes in the other thread turned out to be a complete nutter Very Happy

I have to say it looks nice but i dont know what's going on with the look of the engine, what the hell are those bits from frame to engine? Shocked

ABS is going to be an optional extra

And i'm not sure about the exhausts either, but apparantly they were necesary for the emissions testing as they have decided to keep the ZX9R based engine (tweaked for more bottom and mid range torque). I definately want to test ride it when it comes out and worth considering, but then is the new aprilia tuono too Thinking

Gordon, watch you dont re-spray your bike all red as it'll stand out as crash damaged due to there being a red Z1000 anyway....but black and red would look good. Wink

ABS is going to be an option.

Those things on the engine are an attempt to make the old ZX9R motor look more modern and trick.

The forks are the same as last year.

All this from this weeks MCN.(I know, i was bored ok?)

Is it just me thinking this or would it be much better with the ZX10R engine!!!

I think it's a bit of a styling improvement over the current Z1000, not by a massive amount though! The thing that kawasaki needed to do was make the bike Look as aggressive as a Speed Triple, and handle as well, and also add the grunt of a Benelli TNT. The chassis improvements may now make the bike equal or better the Speed triples handling and braking, but if it's still using the admittedly already powerful enough for most ppl big bore ZX9 engine, then it won't match or Beat the Benelli for sheer roll on grunt.

Ive been wanting a powerful litre+ aggressive naked/streetfighter style factory bike to replace my ZX6R when i can afford to that is. Im told the Triumph has the best handling, and the TNT has more torque and more grunt and power. The new Z1000 could have beaten both with a re-tuned 155 ish bhp ZX12 engine.

They have therefore missed a great opportunity IMO, and still not built the bike ive always wanted as of yet? Shame really, as id slightly rarther have a Kawasaki badge on the side of my bike than a Benelli or Triumph one!

I know what you mean. If the manufacturer's were to realise a 1 litre lump from their 1000 class sportsbike stuck into a naked bike - and heres the important bit - that has not been detuned in any way so it makes full power even if it's detrimental to the ease of use...... would sell by the bucket load Cool

That photo has probably been jazzed up to make it look more shiney, but there doesn't appear to be any major docting going on.

On a separate note...

2007 z750 can also from raptorsandrockets...

I guess the closest to that at the moment is the Aprilia Tuono....

I reckon a ZX10R motor could fit with a little "persuading"

That Raptors and Rockets site blatantly don't know what the fuck they are on about.

They are just photoshopping this years bike in "Speculation" of what next years bikes will look like.

As much as it pains me to say it you will probably find that most manufacturers will give out their press releases to MCN.

Or just wait til Cologne or the NEC!
