Ok, i really dont get PayPal and have been seeling a few bits and bobs this week and got about £60 excluding postage which is nice.

However, when i went to accept a payment it gave me all this rubbish about premium account and i think i agree to it and now i charges me when people send money?!

Heres are pic of what i see (name not on it for obvious reasons) and 3 are before i agreed and last 2 (top and bottom) were after i think and have been charged!?!?

Is this normal? Does anyone else have a premium account, anyway of going back to the basic one??? Does anyone get charge also??

I believe:

If you want to accept people paying with debit/credit cards through pay pal, you have to have a 'premium' account.

With a premium account, you have to pay to receive money, however it's done.

As most people use it with a debit/credit card, you have to have a premuin account really.

It's fair enough to some degree - business get charged for using them etc. However what's not very fair is the way they markey it.

Couldnt agree with that more, i though i was accepting a payment when i clicked the button not an upgrade!!

So everyone has a premium account then?? £1.30 seems a bit much out of £27.50 doesnt it??

About right, I think.

Another reason why I don't like the way ebay has made it hard for people not to use paypal (which they own).

If you don't like it, only accept cheques.
Then see how much less money you make on everything you sell on ebay.

Ebay and paypal take a big cut, but you wouldn't be selling the stuff for anything like the price you're getting without them.

I use paypal on one of my shops and I hate the amount of commission they take. Soon Google checkout will be available in the UK and you can use the amount that you spend on Google Ads to offset against the Google Checkout fees (which are lower than paypal anyway). It hasn't been offered in the UK and Ebay have already said they will not allow its use with Ebay (shock!) but it a good idea for anyone with an online shop to try it.

if you're taking a reasonable amount of online sales, then you might be better looking at something like a Netbanx Bureau account..
