This must be some sort of joke. The pope makes a comment about early Muslim's spreading their religion by violence.

Then Muslims in Gaza show their protest by setting of an explosion outside a Greek Orthodox church.

Am I missing something here, or have they proved the pope right, yet still want an apology?! Confused

Well, they are.

All this "Islam is a religion of peace" is a load of hogwash for western consumption. Islam is a religion of getting what you want, when you want it, and using the West's own laws and morals against it.

In all honesty I couldn't care less if the vatican was blown to pieces by muslims, full of scum and always has been. You start to see how tedious, tiring and boring the whole situation is when they are backing up arguments using events thath happened over a thousand years ago. And we all end up getting dragged into it due to religion still having a strong grasp over (supposedly) secular countrys.

I've never understood why atheists seem to pursue strange ideas as much as believers!

Religion is seldom the cause of any war or conflict.

We in the West are not being dragged into anything because we are from a nominally christian society, we are being dragged into it because we do things that countries and groups that happen to be muslim don't like. They don't care that we are christian - you only need to look at all the Shia/Sunni violence in Iraq to see that it wouldn't even make a difference if we converted to Islam, they'd still find justification for blowing us up.

War is always about power and greed. We have things they want, or stop them from getting things they want, or provide a means for them to get what they want - thus they fight us.

Religion is just camouflage for greedy people who want to control others - it doesn't cause anything at all.

In't religion brilliant? You make up a story about an all-powerful being who only talks to you and a few select others and then tell everyone what to do, how to think, how to behave and how to live otherwise this god will give them plagues of boils or summat and that anyone who doesn't believe is gonna get stoned to death and after that you tell them to give you their money cos that's what god says and you use that money to buy loads of property, right? So then you can let all the people live on the property you bought with their money and charge them rent and stuff. And if anyone else does the same thing with a different all-powerful being and calls their religion summat else you can fight 'em and stuff until they're all dead which proves that your god is top. And best of all, you just tell everyone who asks you about this god that he's invisible and that's all there is to it and unbelievers get stoned to death so have they got any more questions they want to ask, no you didn't think so either. It's dead good, this religion stuff.
