Mates got a mint 99 R1 too, I've ridden it a few times. It's a good bike, he's downgeared it so it moves quite quickly, his handling was a tad dodgy as standard needed alot of effort to get it into the corners but now thats been sorted it's alot easier to push around, although quite wiggly.

Why do R1s sell for less then the R6s from the same year? And most are in much better condition too.

Very very nice bike, enjoy.

Or Die quickly doing something you love?

We cant tell when we are going to die, but worse ways happen.

R6s have better economy, are still plenty quick enough without being as dangerous to newbies in the wet, and are potentially more fun. As Craigs23 said, litre bikes turn everything into stop/start ratheer than a fun hustle...

That and the old r6s look far far better.

In mere mortals hands, said '98 R1 is but far a dream. It would be your worst nightmare.

i disagree

i think an r1 is much easier to ride

seems like u got a bargain.

i guess a 99 is a lot like a 98 but newer, and you dont seem to have paid any more for it
