You'll need to give a bit more detail if your looking for a serious answer.

Hi

Depends on the bike, rider, load, tyres and loads of other factors.

All the best

Ok....i seem to over looked a fair few things... Embarassed

I dont really have any more detail as yet. I am just in the first steps of planning a long haul 9K+ trip round Europe (bike yet to be decided) and was just after some general guidelines as to how long tyres last on touring bikes... i.e. 5k,6k,7k e.t.c. and wether i would need to change them mid trip.

Thanks anyway

Well like it has been said it depends on a lot of factors but I doubt you would get 9K out of even a hard compound touring 'style' rear tyre. You should get 9K out of a front though. Thumbs Up

Depends on the bike's torque and weight (and how it's used). A torquey engine will tear-up a tyre in no time. A mildly-tuned bike will see a set of good touring tyres last 10K+ miles.

Depends entirely on how you ride, and what pressures you run.

I've always got 6-8K from a set of BT010s on Fireblades. Most people I know on sportsbikes acheive anything down to 2000miles due to their ON/OFF throttle hand, smooth acceleration/braking = much less wear.

That sounds pretty good going for a Fireblade. I'm not 'up' on Bridgestone tyres but I guess the BT010's aren't exactly soft compound tyres, such as the 014's/015's?

budget 7-8k+
Touring means double 'Static' loads. These increase when moving/stopping/starting.
Two up even more.
No racing or backing it into bends etc. Keep pressures at optimum.

Carry a puncture kit or have sureseal injected into the tyres. I only got 16 miles from a rear Bridgestone two years ago. Crying or Very sad Laughing

They are. The BT014 replaced the BT010.

I too land up getting on for 10k out of a set of tyre. Think Pheonix is right that smoothness has a major effect.

All the best

Probably so, but it still seems good to me getting that mileage out of a Fireblade rear tyre. A friend of mine with an '06 reg Fireblade only gets just over 2000 miles (or thereabouts) out of a rear BT015. Shocked

I got my current bike with a virtually new rear 010 on, least it looked pretty new. Currently done nearly 5000 miles on it and it's squaring off a bit now and getting close to the limit in the middle, might squeeze another 1000 out if i'm lucky, been running "somewhat" low pressures most of this year though due to some slightly slack judgement Rolling Eyes so that's probably increased wear quite a bit.

I certainly don't bimble, but im confident I have a very different riding style to the majority of people, my brake pads last longer and so does my fuel... 180 out of a tank can be got from the Blade aslong as i'm not commuting.

Some little nob near me is going around on his GSXR600 srad, telling everyone that his gone through 4 rear tyres in 2 months!

And even better - that each new rear tyre costs £250! Shocked

Just wanna slappa-his-face! Laughing

It cost me £98 fitted for the tyre and I pledged never to do it again, buying 2 tyres in a month is far too expensive.

Thats what happens if you hammer the bike with a pillion on it.

I went back to a sports touring tyre after that.

Even riding in a touring style you're still going to need a 2nd rear tyre for sure but the front might last you.
It really isn't difficult to get one in any major town in Western Europe - you may find they are cheaper in fact Wink

Just make sure you aren't in a remote part of Transylvania or something ...
