It would be great.

McCoy back on the scene! So happy! Cool

There looking for a British rider to accompany McCoy. A decider between James Elison and Leon Haslam.
It is possible for them to be faster than the ducs around valencia, because it is a slower track.

Gotta be Ellison. he's got nowhere else to go. Haslams gonna stay with GSE and go to WSB anyway.
valencia is slower-therefore a ducati cant go as fast as a slower bike? Rolling Eyes

Getting a fast time around valencia is more dependant on handling than on straight line speed

I'm quite looking forward to seeing this Ilmor 800 up against the current MotoGP bikes in the final two races.

Thumbs Up

Haslam's raced GPs before, and if he's afraid of being passed over as no1 rider in their team again, he might just risk an Ilmor ride. It's one foot in the door, but then he's as likely to see if a WSB ride will materialise.

I hope Ellison does get a ride with Ilmor though. Perhaps in a smaller team he'll get some attention, and he knows dunlop tyres now... although i don't know if he'll recognise them after mr McCoy's don'e with them Smile

Not a chance, it would be madness on his part.

Look at the people who've taken a "risk" in GPs... people like Bayliss, Byrne etc have done their reputation no good by going there. Toseland has just turned down d'Antin in MotoGP and he REALLY wants to ride there - but he recognises that if you don't get the right bike against the likes of Rossi you have no chance at all.

That's awesome, how exactly would you pull that off?

It's the begining of a highside, only with the major difference being it's completely under control, and retrieveable. Several racers do on numerous occassions but McCoy is somewhat renowned for it! Very Happy

From what I know...
Going into a corner you can do it a little more safely by knocking down a gear and the last moment and controlling the slide with the rear brake.

Coming out of a corner you have to be on the power /just/ too much, then be able to keep feeding on the power at just the right amount to keep a consistant slide going without going too far or letting the road speed catch up.

The really good people can combine the two to produce one constant slide through out the corner.

Impressive stuff, whatever, especially when they were all doing it on 2 strokes!

From what I remember when Mccoy used to slide the back end out he was quicker round the corners but the heat inside the tyre would be too hot, and the tyres couldnt handle it.
