i've got a zxr750L3, original rear is 180/55/17 but i needed a new tyre cheap style so i had to opt for a 50 quid bt014 but it's 170/60/17 only done 25 miles in them but already i've been down to the edge on both sides without too much effort (although i was trying to scrub them in fairly quickly)..

anyone ever went from a 180 to a 170, obviously the bike is a lot more flickable which is a good thing on a heavy bike like this but i don't know whether it banks over as much as it does with a 180.. i.e. not getting as much of a lean angle.

i'm just wondering what people opinions are on using a 170, will it affect high speed stability, cornering speeds? etc..

(i've done a search but only people going form 190 to 180 i can find)..

I think you might struggle to get a 170 to fit the rim.

nah i've got the tyre on.. no problems with it but i was just wondering how it affected riding speeds, stability, lean angles etc.. it feels ok and makes the bike more flickable but i'm just wondering if it's something that's generally done.. i know a lot of people with 190 rear standard change to 180 for track.. i'll be using hte bike mostly for track so.. i was thinking along the same lines.

Of course it will go on, but it wont be fitting the rim as it should.

Personally, I wouldn't use a 170.

You probbaly won't feel much difference, it'll turn in a fraction quicker but that's about it. Shouldn't have any problems with it.
