SV was sold a week ago, and I now own a share in this little toy.
Its a lot more fun than an SV650. Cooler to own too.

Bet you can't get your knee down in it.

Never really saw the appeal of light aircraft tbh. My step dad had 2, I used to go up with him and he'd let me fly, don't get me wrong, it was nice seeing the sights etc. But I'd rather be attacking some twisties.

oh but the fun to be had with aerobatics Very Happy

Been up in a bulldog (2 seater) and a viking (glider) a few times when I was younger and there is nothing like what one pilot called the "dive bomber" which comprised of gaining altitude then nosediving a 1k feet before pulling back up to a steep climb. Beats any rollercoaster! Shocked Mr. Green

Instead of the Bulldog, I was in a Chipmunk.

Currently 17 of us in the share, max is 20. If you want to fly it you just call up and see if its free, or book a slot for weekends - midweek its generally free.

I learnt to fly in march, out in florida. Only just got round to buying into a share now, seeing as it works out cheaper than paying hourly rate to a club if you do more than 20 hours a year.

My share in that cost £1175, plus £70/month and £40/hour, then landing fees on top of that.

As for permormance, no aerobatics in this one, that would make the wings fall off. The performance is god though, with full fuel and me on board it weighs about 350 kg, and has a 80hp motor. For reference a cessna 150 weights about 3 times as much, and has a 100hp motor. I need to keep a close eye on the speedo in this to make sure I'm not getting to the point where abrupt control inputs (or small gusts of wind) will damage the aircraft.

flying has never appealed to me. ive been ina few mini planes with a few of my dads mates and i was utterly bored. now, if it had guns and there were things to shoot at, that would be fun Very Happy

..Until a SAM site locked onto you and you expired in a shower of avgas and plastic shards.

Nice, robby, I envy you. Was the license expensive to obtain?

Think of it this way, it's cheaper to take a 2 week holiday in florida, doing all the parks etc and do your licence there, than to take it on its own here.

No you don't.
Relatively, you get shit all money. Flying for an airline is about the best money you'll get (and yes, that is good pay) but you've got to be shit hot. Besides which, the pay still isn't that great considering the length of time you're away from your family/friends.

Airline pilots DO get paid a lot.
But 'commercial pilot' doesn't necessarily mean you're working for Easyjet or whatever. You could be working for the postal service flying mail out, or for a private business jetting execs around.

The pay generally isn't too good for anything other than airline pilots (compare chauffeurs and taxi drivers for a land-based equivalent), and you can't just step into the job - it's a very expensive thing to do unless you're lucky and get a scholarship with a company, for example BA. It's expensive because you have to pay for your own flight time, qualifications etc. which is why pilots are traditionally in their 40s and 50s. That said, the tradition is dying down a bit now, and there are a lot of younger pilots being offered scholarship/training..But I still don't know any airline pilots who particularly enjoy their job. It's very boring and ultimately unrewarding.

I wish someone had taken me out in helicopter when I was a kid...as I'd be a helicopter pilot by now. Still have 20/20 vision. Funny but have been in a four seater plane, a glider, and all sorts of other planes, but never had the bug to learn to fly...odd that!
