I need a manual for a vfr 400, I've been trying to get the one from the post with a huge list of manuals but I cant get it (file not found) its for the vfr 400 nc30

If anyone has it I'd appriciate if you could pass it on!

I found out why its running crap, the carbs have pipes off all over but I cant find where they should go!

Thanks
Rob

Right, on the attatched photo, I know pipe 4 is a breather that goes to the air box, pipe 3 is the fuel pipe but pipes 1 and 2 have got me stumped!

Pipe 1 is connected to each of the carbs and the bit that you can see in the pic is just dangling, there doesn't seem to be anywhere for it to go!

Pipe 2 is connected to the inlet of #1 cylinder (I think its #1, near side rear) its the only inlet that has one of these pipes and it comes up towards the tank, under the seat a bit then stops, now I know this cant be a good thing, sucking in un filtered air after the carbs!! Again, there seems to be nowhere for it to connect to!

Thanks
Rob

Pipe 2 sounds like the vacuum hose for the fuel tap.

Pipe 1, give me a minute...

Your in luck as my carbs happened to be out on the bench as the moment!!

There are 2 breather hoses. One ffom the front pair, the other from the rear pair. They just dangle where they are. If that single hose connects to all 4 carbs then they may have been modified in some way.

That seems about right! it doesn't look like its ever been connected to anything!

Pipe 2 tho, why does the fuel tap need a vacuum hose? (I'm not saying you're wrong, just wondering why its there!)

Thanks
Rob

If you look at the fuel tap, there are two hoses. 1 is fuel coming out the tank and into the carbs, the other is the vacuum hose. In basic terms the tap only allows fuel out when this hose registers a vacuum, which is created when the engine is running.

It basically is a safety thing to stop fuel gushing out if the fuel hose becomes loose Thumbs Up

I think my fuel tap might be buggered as well then!

The only pipe thats been connected to the fuel tap is the fuel hose and it still runs! (albeit very badly and you can't ride it!)

It must be letting a small ammount of petrol through all the time (apart from when its in the off position)

I'll try putting it all back together tomorrow and see if it will run nicely with that pipe on!

Thanks again
Rob

That pipe did go to the fuel tap, it runs mint now! Very Happy

Now for my next problem, a water leak!

In the middle of the V (between the two pairs of cylinders) theres a metal pipe, I'm hoping its a coolant pipe because thats whats leaking out of it! At the near side it bends down towards the ground and another pipe goes into it, its leaking at that join, but I cant see how it should be sealed, is it just a rubber ring or something?

If it it I'll just take the pipe out, put some silicon on and put it back together!

Thanks
Rob
