Prepare to be disappointed by the ZXR750.

I rode one at a trackday and it was both heavy and slow. Then it dropped a valve.

Glad it wasn't mine tbh.

So 1 ride on one and you write it off as no good. Great opinion.

Laughing

ZXR750 is a very good track bike. I've seen alot of newer machinery die a death on the track, its all down to the rider maintaining it on a regular basis.

Thumbs Up

That won't stop it being heavy and slow though will it...

I'm not going to write it off just yet, as the bike in question was a bit of a shed, and the engine may not have been up to the job.

Was seriously unimpressed with the handling and power though compared to G's R6.

Really, thats strange. I happly kept up with and passed a fully track preped R6 on my almost standard ZXR at Brands back in March. Easliy with him through most corners, and on the straights I reeled him in a good few meters, passing once on power alone along the start finish straight and once on the brakes into turn 1.

Now I'm not saying the ZXR is a track god of a bike, but it (I) certainly held its (my) own against what should be superior machinery.

You might have been unlucky and got a real dog of a bike. Sad

I guess the R6 rider could have been having a bad day, but we rode nose to tail for pretty much the whole of 1 session, and as it was my first track day, I was deliberatly sitting behind him watching and learning his lines etc.. as he did appear to be a 'racer'.

Thumbs Up

I should have the ZXR950 running soon, so that will need a track outing at some point over the next month or so. Wink

I suspect the bike I was on was a complete dog considering it was £475 off eBay complete with a full set of track fairings.

The brakes were nothing short of shocking aswell.

I only just about reeled in an NC29 down the straight at Silverstone on it. Then it dropped a valve after 4-5 laps.

nice bikes you got in ya garage there mate! Thumbs Up loving the RD, old school 2stroke weapon.. class! Twisted Evil

the red silver black zxr is the H model, not as good as the later ones, but still a good bike in my opinion. while i make no claims to be a track god infact im still tottering around in the novice group, but i found me and my zxr750 were definatly held up in the corners by an R6 ridden by a friend of similar riding ability, and i kept with most flashyer newer more expensive bikes without a problem in the corners, but on the straights it was preety closely matched to the R6 yes it is old and heavy, but its stabel as a rock with a reiculously good front end for its age, go buy one! but id recomend the j onwards rather than the h model! anyway sorry for goin off topic. nice bikes you got there mate Very Happy
