Hello, i have a quick question.

Just reading about & read you can get fuel injector cleaner, what exactly does this do & where may i find it?

Also, heard i should be using Super unleaded, i've been using normal.

Thank you. Thumbs Up

I suspect the injector cleaner you hear about is the fuel additive, found in Halfords or any car accessory shop.
As for which fuel to use, this depends entirely on the bike. A few of the modern super sporty ones will be better on higher octane fuel, most will be fine on normal underleaded.

So any injector for petrol is fine with bikes & cars? is there a 'best' one? Also, is there a specific time to use it, or only if it's running a bit weird?

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Doesn't do much in most cases but the best one is said to be stp fuel system cleaner (in a silver bottle) which can help if the injectors aren't too bad.

Other than that it's a case of whipping them out and finding someone with an ultrasonic bath or even better and ASNU machine which can clean and check the flow rate and pattern.

Shouldn't need it realy yet then. Did mine at 40k and it made no difference at all, I only did it as a spring clean type thing...Never spending money on that stuff again untill I have problems running.

Worth remembering all modern fuels have shit loads of detergent in them anyway to keep the engine cleaner. Wink

If you go to Mottingham Motorcycles on Court road Mottingham, ask Gary for the fuel system cleaner that Charlie at Racer sells.

It isn't cheap but is the best stuff I've ever used. Don't get it on your paintwork as it will melt it.

I just bought it (Stp silver) & need to know how much to put in, the instructions say put it all in with a full tank but i'm guessing they mean for cars, is it the same for bikes?

Thanks.

I just chuck in about a 6th of a bottle (at most) of RedEx to a full tank every few months to flush the fuel system clean.

It gives you no more power. Just allows you to run a higher state of tune to produce more power, but if you had tuned the engine to take advantage of it then using normal fuel would result in a good chance of engine damage.

All the best
