Well actually, a friend of mine has and he wants to sell it.

Firstly, sorry this isn't strictly bike related, but I'd like to draw on the vast pool of knowledge that is comprised of the many members of this forum.

I'm trying to find out what it is worth, but am not having any luck.

It's one of these:

The machine gun was legally converted to a pistol and kept on a gun licence.

Something to do with one part of the trigger being disabled.

I'm not trying to sell it to anyone here, only to try to find some idea of it's value.

Ringing the police should indeed be funny.

i wouldnt think it would be worth much, what with it being a 1970s SMG converted to semi only, that and it being made by one of the dodgyest spanish gun companies around, and only people with a gun licence would be interested in buying it i think. id give your local firearms police headquaters a call.. they should be aboe to give you more information, and if its 100% legal then theres nothing to loose. Thumbs Up

Ok, I've just checked and my mate no longer has a gun licence.

He had it de-activated by a gunsmith in 1992.

It comes complete with the de-activation certificate which means that it is no longer a firearm and can be legally owned by anyone.

You can have big uns if the barrel length is over a certain limit. It means you have a gun like the one penguin fired at the end of the Batman film.

And I think they can only be single shot.

WW2 german stuff tends to hold its value better
AK-47 (russian) is as said around 400 quid mark but an MP40 can be had for £900, old spec diac (part working internals) were talking upwards of 1500 - 2k.
Same for pistols colt 45 (1911a1) around £450 but a luger will fetch £700
So its prob worth around 200-3 maybe

I only fired the SLR once (too young Laughing

) but it certainly had one hell of a kick to it (defintely when compared to the plasticky SA80, and the aforementioned feeble SMG).

My brother was in the Royal Anglians at the time of the change over and was part of a demonstration between the GPMG and the new all-singing-all-dancing LSW. They put them side by side on a range with a concrete block in each lane as targets. The LSW chipped away at its, the barrel overheated and then the firing pin broke. The GPMG apparently obliterated its block and then finished off the LSW's for it! Laughing

the SA80 has a good barrel now (H&K) but the rest is still Enfield crap. Seing as the SLR was FN why dont we adopt the FN P90, nice. Cant beat a proper high velcity round, that why the AK is still there in one form or another since 1947 (but it was a rip off of the German MP44)
