Hey peeps. just a quick post to let you know how i spent my 22nd birthday. was on my way to the shop about midnight on tuesday 3rd, going round a long right hand corner just as it had started raining. must have hit diesel or greese or something, but anyway the next thing i remember was trying to stand up in green at the side of the road, covered in mud. when i stood, my leg felt really odd and i just fell down, 3 times i stood and 3 times i fell, so i gave up. i phoned my gf in halls and told her i needed help, but some passers by had already called a disco taxi (ambulance). i kinda remember arguing with the paramedic on the ambulance and taking my boot off because he wanted to cut me out of everything. i sort of remember giving statment to peelers, and then getting leg x-rayed, being put on IVs and drugs, but anyway the short of it is, i fractured my leg, had a 3 hour operation to put it back together, its held together now by 3 screws. very sore. spent 4 days in hospital and got so fucked off i came home. legs pure agony, the pain killers help a bit, but its still sore. prob wont be walking for a few months.
also some scummy bastard stole my bike from the side of the road while i was in hospital. ____________________ My Bikes - - - Royal Enfield 500 with sidecar, VFR800, CBR600FX,

The police are right bastards.
When i had my off last week they recovered my bike for me (While i was strapped up in the back of the ambulance!) without even asking me if i had recovery/insurance to cover the cost of recovery.
Cost me £105 standard fee (without VAT) and they tried to charge another £35 because it took 2 people
You can moan at the old bill to try and get them to pay for it because sometimes they do but their excuse was 'i said it was ok for them to recover it'...did i bollocks, i was in no fit state to answer any questions, and i also didn't say anything of the sort!
Anyway, just go into the station and cause a scene...they will soon let you know what has happened! |

Same thing happened to Korn's Firestorm when he broke his leg, they just left it at the side of the road. |

So, in summary, they took your property without your consent or your represnetative(s) or under any instruction from the police. Now, I may be wrong, but that sounds very much like theft to me. Maybe they monitor the police channels for RTAs On a non conspiracy theory line if a police office ok'd the recovery then they're probably on holiday so no-one else knows what's going on.
On the plus side at least you're still around to care. Bikes can be mended, people are harder to replace.
Hope you get well and get plenty of physio for the leg ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

aye well thats the way the world works...
A couple of weeks ago my dog escaped our garden during a thunderstorm, she was collected by the police and taken to the local pound... When I finally managed to locate her I was charged £60 for the pleasure
*EDIT*
ps: Hope the leg turns out fine! ____________________ Current Bikes - Kawasaki ZX-6R (636) | BMW G650GS

The police were actually helpful when I had my off last monday. Worked out a way to recover it then get insurance to sort the costs, and the police would arrange to drop it back too, but in the end my mate rang in the middle of sorting it out, and offered to ride it back, which somehow they were cool with too

If the police say they didn't instruct anyone to recover your bike, you didn't instruct anyone to recover your bike and your bike is missing, surely you need to report it as stolen?
I too have had a bike 'recovered' on the instructions of the police. It was 100 yards away from my front door at the time where some neds had pushed it (without an engine in it). They then had the audacity to try to charge me £140 to get it back.
Far be it from me to suggest that brown envelopes change hands ... Actually, I did suggest this in a letter to my MP about essentially being fined by the police for being a victim of crime. |
