I'm a bit of confusion here , in that I have a rear stand and a front stand which the forks rest on , thing is I want to remove the front forks to replace the fork seals (and bushes too Sickpup).
Thing is since I'm removing the front forks this makes my front stand useless so how do I prop up the front? , my tyre man used some sort of £££££ hydraulic lift of some sort and while I was making a move on a scooter girl who was waiting too , he had trouble positioning it.
I've looked in my haynes and it says make some sort of wooden box for the engine case to sit on. while you remove the front end.
I can't justify buying a hydralic lift (£2-300) and my breaker says NTV centre stands are as rare as rocking horse shite.
My mind is currently thinking since I've got 3 car jacks.... maybe a huge block of wood onto of those can sort of work as a cheapo bike lift (a car I bought came with 3 identical jacks). would this work and are there any alternatives? (me thinks taking our one fork at a time = twisting)
any suggestions?
