It's thanks to you lot at BCF that I plucked up the courage to actually take off.
And apart from the poor pictures in Paris (my camera is shite at night) I'm well glad I did it.
I even met loads of bikers on the ferry and on the trip. One of them had this gorgeous Busa! (see pic)
Oh, and here are some pics of France and Italy... Well worth the trip.
My only regret is that I didn't push it to the Italian lakes. Next time! ____________________ Kawasaki ER6n -> Honda CBR600RR -> Honda VTR 1000 -> Moto Guzzi Norge 1200

Mont Blanc is absolutely amazing. Top biking country.
Long sweeping bends over bridges and the motorway surface is almost track-standard.
I went though paris and spent a night there. Then through Dijon and followed the signs for Mont Blanc.
If you are planning on going down there, though, I recommend pushin on towards the Italian lakes. Lake Como and Lecco are absolutely brilliant. People are fairly decent too.
The winter is harsh, though, so spring/summer is probably the best time. Well worth the trip though... ____________________ Kawasaki ER6n -> Honda CBR600RR -> Honda VTR 1000 -> Moto Guzzi Norge 1200

ok I'm a sports-touring tyre person myself, seen as how I commute with the bike and can't be replacing them every 3000 miles... just when I needed new tyres a while ago a couple of bad reports (true or not) were enough to make me hesitate.
I got some continental road attack tyres in the end, I'd recommend them if you fancied a change ____________________ "he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man"- Dr. Johnson |

Well Done! Glad you took the chance and enjoyed it. It takes a fair bit of bravery to decide to do something like that on your own.
On tyres - I have always liked the 020s and now they've released 021s, I shall be trying them next. Supposedly more wet grip and 15% longer lasting than the 020 (for me that'll be about 9k then). So pretty good from where I'm sitting. ____________________ Travelling around the world...a bit at a time. Where am I now? / Visit my BLOG

I don't have this negative opinion that many people have of the french, perhaps parce que , je habite en bretagne and they have a different outlook. |
Maybe. But if you lived on the south coast, you'd get tired of them. Trust me. They act like their goal in life is to make yours more difficult (have you ever tried calling a french phone company call centre for help? or interacted with the post office in any way?). The general rudeness of people in the street or in shops, the way they let their dogs shit anywhere...
I have lived here on and off for nearly 2 years, I came here with no preconceptions and an open mind but from my experience here, day in day out, I really hate the bastards. Don't get me wrong, I have french friends, but as a society, its the worst I've ever seen, and I've travelled a fair bit. ____________________ "he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man"- Dr. Johnson |
