Got an ER5 that's in need of tyres before I put it onto the road. (providing 'yours truly' shapes himself on his M2 next week) Rear is totally shot and the front has not got a lot left on it. So I figure I will replace them both.

Considering Michelin Pilot or Bridgestone BT45's but willing to take suggestions from this sites members.

Whats the best tyres possible for general use upon this machine.?

I don't mind paying for the best as this is my contact with the road and as a new 'big-bike' rider I feel its even more important that this is optimum.

Cheers, Nick.

Bridgestone BT45. They're pretty much the benchmark, never seen a bad word written about then (awaits correction.)

They are slightly dated now, but they're still being sold for a reason, they're good.

I know I'll be picking them when my Tyre wears down next Wink

I use BT45's on my CB5 but as the price of them seems to shoot up all the time and i square them off pretty quickly (NB: possibly a case of unrealistic expectations as i do relatively heavy motorway miles), i'm looking for a cheaper/longer lasting tyre.

Grip-wise, no dramas, which is the point.

Two sites can give you good prices:

https://moto-tyres.co.uk/
and
https://www.tyres-pneus-online.co.uk/

Just search by size.

Go for Pirelli Sport Demon if you want grip over longevitity

Bridgestone BT45 are dual tread compound, so softer in the edges and harder in the middle. Good allrounder

Michelin Pilot Activ is another good one, bit longer lasting than the BT45

Avon Roadriders will give the longest life.

The absolute cheapest are Vee Rubbers. The VRM249 can be had for less than £50.
