I've been trying to get casual style boots or trainers but this seems an impossible task. Most dealers I've visited only have huge boots that look like they belong on a racetrack. Any idea where I can find something like that in central London? Some models I've seen online are Alpinestars Stroke shoes and Triumph Sympatex Tritech II boots, but no one has them in stock, and I'd prefer to try them on before ordering.

Nitro NB30s? I bought a pair of these at the NEC last week and they are very comfortable, have reasonable prorection - not tested for water-resistance yet though as it hasn't rained.

Thanks, I'll see if I can find these somewhere so I can try them on for fit. Should have just gone to the NEC...

I wear these, on and off the bike. Casual style, waterproof, ankle protection, sturdy and comfy Thumbs Up

EDIT: More details - the manufacturer is Forma, boots have drytex and I think they're called Overland.

If you mean for riding a bike then Hein Gericke do a few I think.
Came across the Superbike GTX boot, described as a summer boot but waterproof.

As said I think they do others.

froggeh they do but don't want to order online before I've tried them on, and none of the more casual ones are available in local dealers I've called. Anyone know any large dealers in central(ish) London who may have these lying around? Only large one I know is metropolis and they didn't have the triumph boot in stock, and if I order it I'll have to commit to buying it

try here:

https://www.altberg.co.uk/Web/motorcycle1.jsp

Quite expensive, but I've had my pair since 2002 (Hogg all weather original) and they look nearly new still. They are handmade and the only military/walking boot type boots to have a stitched on sole instead of glued on.

I wear them daily and they are extremely comfortable and waterproof. They also give me an extra half an inch in height which is ideal for commuting by motorcycle!

The only downside I have with them is I keep breaking the laces. This is hardly the fault of the boot though!! Smile

I want the alpinestar strokes too, bene looking everywhere for them btu can't really find anywhere to try them on and they are £80 + online , expensive to pay without trying them on first

I tried the similar alpinestars N2 on tho and they are pretty comfy and DO offer more protection that trainers, but are by no means protective.. if that makes sense... it's a good compromise I think but reaelly depends on your type of riding.

Not in Central London, down in Greenwich.

I recommend British Army Pro-boots. Often turn up on Ebay cheap.

I was looking at some Alpinestars casual boots like this today (picking up some winter gloves at J&S) - nearly bought a pair - they certainly look tougher than walking boots IMO. (edit - textile walking boots that is Smile )

I wear SWAT boots on the ward.

Clicky

I've got the 9" air boots, they are used by military and tactical personnel in airports as it contains no metal to set off detectors. They are comfy as a trainer and just as light so no monster calf muscles needed.

The boots are fastened by laces and a zip up the side so should be safe enough for use on a bike.

Forgot to mention that the Police endorse them too Wink

I think you'll find that as they are specifically for motorcycle use, that they are stromg in the right areas too.

I am severely tempted to get some, and a pair of these too Smile
