Heres the prob.
My Crash helmet needs a good clean inside but the padding is not the removable type. Is it ok to give it a total soaking and let the helmmet dry or will this waste it. its an AGV xvent welused and is my spare.

I wouldn't soak it... at the very most I would use a damp sponge and gently give the surface of the padding a wipe making sure the water doesn't penetrate.
If you use soapy water it should make it smell nice too.
If it's just a smell, I'll second the frebreeze ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

Topic has been asked and covered before.
Basically don't be afraid. Take it into the shower with you and give it a wash with baby shampoo and then rinse out thoroughly. Leave to dry in warm, not hot, place. Airing cupboard is idea. May take 2 or 3 days to dry.

As above, use shampoo. It's a very gentle soap that won't harm fabrics yet is also the best at removing the source of helmet smells - hair grease.... lovely |

OT
makes me wonder what'd happen if you were to go through a car wash on the bike if you can stay on that is , I wonder if such a wash would ruin your lid and water proofs that said rubber thongs lashing at you at 2500rpm can't be good for anything I don't even put cars through car washes and its nothing to do with the fact I'm a bit of a cheapskate!. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die.
