Went out to bleed my back break on my bike tonight. I noticed my calliper moved slightly from side to side when pushing the leaver down, decided to tighten the calliper and SNAP! The bolt snapped clean in two, this has happen far too many times to me!

I'll need to try drill it out or something... Not happy!

They do have a bit of side to side wobble in them if they are the sliding pin type.

A torque wrench and manual should be on the Christmas list. At least now you should have a feel of what a bolt feels like before it's going to give way.

Them handlebar things shouldn't move as you should only point the bike by counter steering. Best do up the headrace nut real tight until they stop moving too.

Most modern rears do, they slide horizontally, I guess to compensate for the pads wearing down.

You shouldn't need to drill it out, just undo the other bolt pull the calliper off then get some mole grips on stud.

Undo the other bolt and take the caliper off the bike, you may have to take the rear wheel off although you may get away with just taking the pads out of the caliper.

The caliper does not bolt directly to the bike, the bolts will only be threaded to the caliper, not the braket.

You have broke bolt 17 right? See it screws into the caliper but the rest of it isn't threaded it just sits in the bracket, the thing that holds the calliper on is the disc, the bolts just stop in moving front to back. You will probably have to take the wheel and brake line off but it will just pull out, then you can turn the stub in a vice or mole grips.
