unlucky man,
I have a nasty gash on my right knee from low-siding a planet myself, back when I was 18. But you're right, at least they crash pretty well!

Well, i'm out of hospital. Physio was an arse pain, but at least i can move. The hole in my knee was rather nice. There was one about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide which went down to bone, which was rather interesting, and another one which was about an inch in diameter just above it.
The cause of the crash appears to be gravel mid-corner, but i don't really want to have a go at the highways agency or council because i simply cannot be arsed. The policeman who attended said that there was no gravel on the corner, but he didn't look to where the sliding started, he only looked at the area where i came off. I'll get some pics of the bike and my gear up.

I think part opf the reason they crash well is that they use your leg as a crash bung. I think i might try and get some universal bungs to save my leg rather than the bodywork lol.

Glad your not too beaten up mate, seems everybody's crashing. I think the only thing keeping me from a spill and a stay at hospital is the fact that my bike's off the road more than on ____________________ TL1000s, KDX200 |

the bars are aftermarket ones, the previous owner chucked it down the road and the OE bars died. It now looks like one of those japanese speedway-esque bikes which have one handlebar bent up to allow them to lean stupidly far.

I've been riding nearly 2 years and only got a 125 in january. I'm not what is usually classed as experienced. I didn't have protective pants on either. My jacket saved me elbow smashing, and some evil gravel rash, the boot meant i didn't lose my foot, which i would have done without it, and thanks to my helmet, i didn't die.
As i said before, if i had protective pants on i would have walked away, and if i had taken the corner at a slower pace, which is advisable anyway, i might not have lost control.
Don't be put off, just learn that if you have the right gear you'll escape with little or no injury. If you choose not to wear the gear then the chances of losing limbs and extremeties increases a lot.
