I never want to break anything again! Hospitals are the most depressing places, I was in an old peoples ward with only one other person below 90 and he was 70 and incontinent. Shattered my wrist and broke my ankle, both left so quite tricky walking. Was really shocked today when I went back to the bend and saw how far my bike had slid up the road. I was VERY lucky to have the injurys I do. By the looks of it my bike missed me twice once when it bounced off the curb and secondly when it bounced off the lampost which I landed next to. There's a big chunk out of the curb! I'm not sure if I want another bike but probably an AfricaTwin for the road and a 400 for the track seems like a good idea if I do start again.

Was lucky to only be in there for 3 1/2 days but still having flasbacks when I fall asleep so only get 5 mins sleep before jolting awake. I can't believe I'm still alive to be honest and only a couple of breaks with no back injury. It's made reasees my life cos you only get some many second chances.

Bit babbly but still on alot of painkillers, so if you can read/rearrange that I hope you get the idea.

From what i saw as I went in to the ambulance the front forks had snapped in half or the headstock had broken. Will get some pics when I pick it up from my bros garage.

Apparently I wont get full movement back in my wrist but it should be fixed in 3 months, ankle didn't need surgery or plates so should be a fair bit quicker.

I was driving like a lunatic, that's why I saw it as something inevitable. I think the general view of bikers is too invincible. Not on this forum but outside of it.

Quick medical question, I asked the doctors but they never really have time. The top of my legs are really painfull when I move. I'm sure it's not a pelvis fracture because that would really hurt but is it normal? When I say painfull it's can't move painfull unless I really have to.

this is kinda of why I gave up bikes until now when I am gagging to get another one.....got too enjoy the speed too much and saw myself really being able to do myself bad damage if I didnt stop.

Glad you are ok (ish) like you say could have been worse. Hope you are pain free and mended soon.

Bro in law did the same to his wrist on his zzr many moons ago, but although its never been right, hasnt stopped him riding a bike again.

Think this time round I may get something "sensible".

Also the wet/hot odd weather cant of helped the road conditions of late.

I'm glad it was only a case of broken bones, because you can easily replace a bike but you can't replace a life.

I think you should get back on the bike, You know how much you loved it before the accident.

Getting a track day bike sounds a good idea, Theres a guy I know who is a COMPLETE lunatic, one of the crazey things he has done in is life is drive his ford transit van over a motocross jump at high speed and was lucky to walk away...... ( The van was TOTALLLLLED )

But anyway he grabbed a 1000cc Kawasaki, I and many of my friends told him hes just not the sort of person who should be on a machine like that and he did ride like a cock for the first month or so. But then he got really into bikes and about another kawasaki for the track.

He now rides within the speed limits ALL the time, dosnt do stupid overtakes, and could even be considerd as a SAFE rider! He told me a while ago that he knows how much it hurts to crash in the most safest of enviroments ( The race track ) so crashing on the road at even half that speed is obviously alot worse.

Sorry to tell you my life story but I think that him getting into track racing has saved his life. Hope you recover soon bro. Dont rush it, make sure everything is properly healed before you go back to your daily routine or you just cause LOOOADs more hassel than you already got.
