OK, this not getting a bike till december is clearly not working and i have £2.5k in the bank just sitting there, im going to get a job in a office hopefully july which will bring more money in.

My question is, would you buy a bike if you found a nice one even though i could be quite likely yourll never ride it and youll only be able to start it and work on it??

My view is i cant ride but having a bike i can take apart and really clean up (though im not up for a full on project yet) and play around with as no bike is just too hard.

Hope you can advise me BCF, it is wise idea??

I'd put it in a savings account and get some interest, not alot but hey if you can't use it anyway why not!

I would say save your money until December, the bike is just going to depreciate sitting in a garage. Then in December you may be able to get a better bike than if you bought one now.

This is about the worst time of year to buy a bike price wise.

So it'd have to be a very good deal that needed a fair bit of work to justify it.

While it's nice to have a shiny bike sitting there, I suspect doing that will lead you to be more frustrated.

I say go for it, in the time you cant ride it you can get it looking ace, and buy extra bits like an exhaust etc if you wanted.

I bought my NSR in september and didn't ride it til march but got to learn where everything was.

At the end of the day its your choice mate.

Not sure how "rough" a bike you would feel able to work on though.

In not up for a full project so thats that out of the window and if i was able to get something it would be "ready to go" and only really need polishing and stuff.

I wish i only had to wait till August, this isnt fun at all....

Ok, not quite the same thing, but if you get one with a real engine it gives you something to mess about with - and something you can have fun with without hurting yourself too much .

If I was you I would buy a bike in winter, take full advantage of the price drop!

Oh and to get more no claims buy some peice of shit (125cc) that will fit in the corner of your garage and insure it whilst your "off the road" for a year, this way you will get another years no claims.

i know in myself i should get a bike winter as more money then and some real bargins, will also know what going on with this claim and if it goes to court. If i keep my no claims ill be able to insurance a IL4 600 and if not probably be RVF400 V4 400

It so fustrating, i know leaving BCF for the period may also be a good move as reading about bikes doesnt help but till i got better things to do (ie job/busy with my life) i end up on here!! lol
